Even after using Google Maps for 10 years, I'm still shocked by this feature.
Beyond just a map, Google Maps boasts a range of hidden features that save time, prevent getting lost, and provide smarter navigation.

Many people have been using Google Maps for decades, yet they are still surprised to discover that the app is not just a simple map viewing tool, but also possesses a host of "hidden" features that make traveling significantly more convenient. One of the most useful tips is the ability to find addresses directly through the contacts saved on the phone, allowing users to simply type in the names of friends or relatives instead of having to manually type the address as before.
Google Maps has now also integrated the Ask Maps feature, which uses the artificial intelligence Gemini, allowing users to search for places through natural conversations such as "quiet cafes near me" or "late-night restaurants with parking".
Additionally, the "Send to phone" feature allows users to find directions on their computer and then directly transfer the route to their smartphone with just one tap, eliminating the need to manually send links or screenshots of addresses to themselves.
Street View is also considered a "lifesaver" for those who frequently visit unfamiliar places, as this feature allows you to preview entrances, storefronts, or parking areas to minimize the risk of going to the wrong place or missing your destination. For pedestrians, Live View uses augmented reality (AR) technology to display directional arrows directly on the camera screen, making navigating through busy streets much more intuitive than with traditional maps. Another feature that many people find extremely useful is real-time location sharing, allowing friends or family to track your journey, travel time, and even your phone's battery level while you're on the go.
In case of signal loss or traveling to areas without internet access, Google Maps' offline map feature continues to be valuable by allowing users to pre-load the entire area they need to travel to, ensuring stable navigation without worrying about losing connection along the way.
