Due to the impact of storm No. 3 (super typhoon Yagi), the water level of the Red River rose and flowed rapidly. To ensure the safety of passengers on the morning of September 10, Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) announced that it would not run trains across Long Bien Bridge.

Accordingly, passenger trains on the Hanoi - Hai Phong route will change their schedules with Gia Lam Station as the departure and destination station.

Passengers with tickets with departure stations from Hanoi Station or Long Bien Station will travel to Gia Lam Station to take the train. Passengers with tickets with arrival stations being Hanoi Station or Long Bien Station will end their journey at Gia Lam Station.

According to Mr. Do Van Hoan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, currently there are about 14 trains passing through Long Bien Bridge every day, including 8 Hanoi- Hai Phong trains; 2 Hanoi-Lao Cai trains; and 4 freight trains.

Previously, due to the influence of the tropical convergence zone through the Northern region connecting with the circulation of the low pressure area weakened by storm No. 3, in Yen Bai province there was heavy rain, the railway industry stopped running the Hanoi-Lao Cai passenger train.

Specifically, passenger trains SP3 and SP4 on the Hanoi-Lao Cai route will stop running on September 8. The plan to resume this route will depend on the weather and Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company will continue to update information about floods and rains to notify train passengers.

Long Bien Bridge is known as the vital bridge, connecting the Hanoi-Hai Phong and Hanoi-Lang Son railway lines with the national railway network. This is the first steel bridge across the Red River, connecting the two districts of Hoan Kiem and Long Bien, built by the French in 1898, inaugurated on February 28, 1902, originally named Doumer Bridge.

After the capital was liberated, the bridge was renamed Long Bien./.
