The 2025/26 National Professional Football Season (V-League 1) is expected to start on August 9, 2025 with the 2024/25 National Super Cup and end on June 28, 2026 with the National Cup Final.

V-League 1-2025/26 has the participation of 14 professional clubs: Becamex Ho Chi Minh City (renamed from Becamex Binh Duong Club), Hanoi Police, Ho Chi Minh City Police (renamed from Ho Chi Minh City Club), Dong A Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Ninh Binh (renamed from Phu Dong Ninh Binh Club), Quang Nam , SHB Da Nang, Song Lam Nghe An, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh, The Cong Viettel.

With the round-robin format (home and away) to calculate points and rank, V-League 1-2025/26 will have a total of 26 rounds with 182 matches. The total prize value of the three leading teams is 9.5 billion VND.
There are some notable changes this season as there will be 2 direct relegation slots (compared to 1.5 slots currently). Similarly, there will be 2 direct promotion slots from the National First Division. In addition, the number of foreign players has also been adjusted.
The 2025/26 season will continue to use the Terra UVI 2.07 FIFA Quality Pro standard match ball. In addition, Dong Luc Sports Group will also launch a uniform model for referees and supervisors in the 2025/26 National Professional Football League system.
In particular, clubs participating in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Club Football Tournaments are allowed to register a maximum of 07 foreign players in the tournament; Other clubs are allowed to register a maximum of 04 foreign players in the tournament.
During the match, all participating clubs are allowed to register a maximum of 04 foreign players, with a maximum of 03 foreign players allowed to play on the field at all times of the match.
In addition, with the merger of provinces and cities from July 1, 2025, V-League 1-2025/26 will have more inter-provincial derby matches, an opportunity to develop the tournament's image as well as expectations for changes in football management and development to suit the capacity and actual conditions of the localities.
2025/26 season opening round fixtures

The season will have 2 transfer periods. Period 1 from July 15 to September 14. Period 2 from January 25, 2026 to March 17, 2026. The time to register players at the beginning of the season is before 17:00 on August 1.

At the ceremony, the Draw Ceremony and match schedule were held. According to the draw results, the defending champion Nam Dinh Steel will have their opening match against Hai Phong Club at Thien Truong Stadium; Quang Nam Club will host Song Lam Nghe An; Becamex Ho Chi Minh City will travel to Pleiku Stadium to meet Hoang Anh Gia Lai; Hong Linh Ha Tinh will host newcomer Ninh Binh FC; Dong A Thanh Hoa will meet SHB Da Nang; Ho Chi Minh City Police will meet Hanoi FC and Hanoi Police will meet The Cong - Viettel.
