Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi worked at the My Son temple complex on the morning of August 20th.
At the meeting, the Da Nang City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board (My Son World Heritage Management Board) reported on the implementation plan and roadmap for the planning task (hereinafter referred to as the Plan).
Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet, Deputy Director in charge of the Management Board of the My Son Sanctuary, said that the task of developing a plan for the preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of the My Son Sanctuary, a special national monument, has been approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1404/QD-TTg (dated June 27, 2025).
On August 11, 2025, the My Son World Heritage Site Management Board sent a document and report requesting the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to act as the investor to carry out the next steps.
In addition, it details the process and tasks to be undertaken when developing the plan. This includes addressing several difficulties and obstacles that need to be resolved so that the plan can be approved and published soon, thus facilitating the development of tourism in My Son and surrounding areas.
In addition, units such as the Department of Construction, the Department of Finance, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the People's Committee of Thu Bon commune also contributed opinions and proposals regarding the contents related to the plan for the preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of the My Son Temple Complex, a special national historical site.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, acknowledged and highly appreciated the proactive and positive coordination of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the My Son World Heritage Management Board, and related agencies and units in advising the People's Committee of Quang Nam province (formerly) to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to submit to the Prime Minister for approval the task of establishing a plan for the preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of the My Son temple complex, a special national monument, as well as in the preservation and promotion of the value of the site in the past.
The Da Nang City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is assigned as the investor and will coordinate with relevant units to advise the City People's Committee on issuing a planning scheme to ensure quality and progress in the coming period.
This includes clearly defining each work item, the lead unit, the coordinating units, the implementation time, and the outputs, ensuring timely completion. The process involves organizing a bidding process to select a consulting firm; appraising and approving the plan; completing and reporting the draft plan to the City People's Committee. Coordination with the consulting firm and relevant units is also necessary to develop a budget estimate for the planning process.
Discussions were held with foreign experts who are assisting with restoration projects at the tower complexes.
The My Son World Heritage Site Management Board is the lead agency coordinating with experts and relevant parties to develop a detailed plan for the restoration and rehabilitation of this special national monument in the coming period. It will proactively propose and implement plans to mobilize resources from organizations and individuals, both domestic and international, to carry out conservation, restoration, and rehabilitation work for the monument in the future.
This clearly defines priority tasks and conservation solutions. It involves coordinating with relevant units and experts to implement conservation solutions and preserve traditional cultural values.

The relevant departments, agencies, and the People's Committee of Thu Bon commune are responsible for proactively coordinating with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the research and planning process, ensuring quality, progress, and effectiveness.

Prior to the working session, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi directly inspected, surveyed, and learned about the current state of conservation work at the My Son historical site, as well as experiential activities and tourism products at My Son.
At the same time, we listened to reports from the My Son World Heritage Site Management Board on the current status of the towers and tower groups, the restoration and preservation work of the Cham towers; and exchanged views with experts who are carrying out conservation and restoration work on the Cham towers here.
Vice Chairman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized that in the coming time, it is necessary to continue implementing solutions to ensure that the My Son Sanctuary remains an attractive cultural and historical tourist destination, connecting with the Da Nang Cham Sculpture Museum and linking with other historical and cultural relics in Da Nang to form a chain of tourism products that combine conservation and environmental protection, contributing to the socio-economic development of Da Nang city in general and Thu Bon commune in particular.

Previously, on June 27, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1404/QD-TTg approving the task of developing a plan for the preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of the My Son Temple Complex, a special national historical site.
Accordingly, the planning study area, covering approximately 30,875 hectares, is located within the administrative boundaries of the area where the relics are distributed; this includes: the area designated for the protection of the My Son Temple Complex National Special Monument and the area designated for the protection of relics related to the My Son Temple Complex (such as Tra Kieu, Bang An, the Thu Bon River basin, and other archaeological sites and Champa ruins).
The planning scope covers the entire 1,158-hectare area of Zone I and II of the My Son Sanctuary National Special Monument (according to Decision No. 1272/QD-TTg dated August 12, 2009, of the Prime Minister on the ranking of national special monuments).

The maximum planning time is 24 months from the date the task is approved (excluding the time for appraisal, budget approval, bidding for the selection of a consulting unit, appraisal and approval of the plan). The plan for implementing the next steps is expected to take 17 months.
At the same time, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is assigned the responsibility of presiding over the appraisal and submitting it to the Prime Minister for approval.
The People's Committee of Da Nang City is responsible for presiding over the planning process; allocating funds, approving the estimated costs for planning and other related expenses; assigning the project owner; and selecting a planning consultancy firm in accordance with the law.
