To ensure that the people’s travel was not interrupted, the strong men in the village quickly gathered wood and planks to prepare to build a new bridge across the stream. From early morning, officers from the Muong Long Border Guard Working Group, Tri Le Border Guard Station, and Nghe An Provincial Border Guard Command were present to share the heavy work with the people.

Officers and soldiers of the Muong Long Village Border Guard Working Group and local people prepare wood to build a bridge over the stream.

Through research, it is known that the border villages of Muong Long, Huoi Xai, Nam Tot have 291 Mong ethnic households living, nearly 30km from the commune center, with dangerous traffic routes. People's lives still face many difficulties, and legal awareness is still simple. Meanwhile, the border area has a harsh climate, many trails, and is potentially exploited by transnational drug criminals to complicate security and order.

Based on the actual requirements of the area, many years ago, the Border Guard of Nghe An province established and built a working group stationed in Muong Long village to grasp the situation and maintain peace in remote border villages. The officers and soldiers mobilized to carry out the task always clearly identified the sense of responsibility and sentiment of Uncle Ho's soldiers "stationed in the village", promptly grasped the thoughts and aspirations, and deployed the work to help people develop the economy and reduce poverty. Thanks to the green-uniformed party members transferring Party activities to the village Party cells, all organizations and unions in the villages of the Mong ethnic group operated more effectively. The work of propagating, mobilizing, and bringing the Party's and State's policies and guidelines to people in remote areas was timely and quick. Not only that, at the Border Guard Working Group of Muong Long village, a combined military-civilian clinic with full necessary medical examination and treatment equipment was also built. Here, military medical staff are regularly on duty to examine, provide medicine and provide free medical treatment to the people.

When we arrived at the Muong Long Border Guard Working Group, Major of the Military Police, Doctor Nguyen Dinh Ha was welcoming and examining some people. Through the conversation with the border medical staff, we learned that most of the people from the three villages of Muong Long, Huoi Xai, and Nam Tot come here for medical examination and treatment. In addition, there are also some Lao people living in the opposite residential areas who also inform the Border Guard to come here for medical examination in case of emergency. Every year, the combined military-civilian clinic of the Muong Long Border Guard Working Group examines and provides free medicine to more than 1,000 people. Mr. Va Ba Mai, Head of Muong Long Village, said: “Fortunately for us, there is a border guard working group in the locality, and medical staff are always on duty ready to help people when needed. The people of the border villages trust and join hands with the army to protect the peace of the border and the area.”
