EVN tests national power grid in Con Dao special zone

(Dan Tri) - At exactly 5:00 p.m. on August 22, Power Project Management Board 3 tested the 100kV line supplying national grid power to Con Dao.

On August 22, the People's Committee of Con Dao Special Zone (HCMC) sent a notice to the Management Board of Power Project 3 and local agencies, units, and armed forces about the trial energization of the 100kV line supplying electricity from the national grid to the island.

According to the People's Committee of Con Dao Special Zone, the trial power connection not only marks a new step forward in the process of bringing national grid power to Con Dao but also opens up great expectations for socio -economic development, especially in the fields of tourism, services and people's lives on the island.

Accordingly, at exactly 5:00 p.m. on August 22, the Power Project Management Board 3 energized the 100kV line supplying national grid power to Con Dao. The items to be tested include: the 110kV line from the 220kV Vinh Chau transformer station ( Can Tho ) to the starting point of the 110kV Con Dao transformer station (HCMC); the submarine cable system; the overhead line at some locations in Con Dao.

The People's Committee of Con Dao Special Zone requested agencies, units and people to coordinate and create favorable conditions for the construction unit to implement. In particular, it is required not to encroach on the safety corridor of the high-voltage power grid, ensuring absolute safety during the trial energization process.

The People's Committee of Con Dao Special Zone affirmed that the testing process was closely monitored and safety measures were fully implemented. If any incidents arise, the Power Project Management Board 3 will promptly coordinate with local authorities to handle them.

The project to supply electricity from the national grid to Con Dao officially started in March, with Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) as the investor and Power Project Management Board 3 implementing it. The project is 103.7km long, with a voltage of 110kV, and a total investment of nearly VND5,000 billion.

Of which, 17.5km of overhead line passes through Soc Trang province (now Can Tho city); 77.7km of submarine cable connecting from the mainland to the island; 8.5km of submarine cable in Con Dao special zone and expansion of 220kV Vinh Chau transformer station (Can Tho city), construction of new 110/220kV GIS station in Con Dao special zone.
