On July 30, Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam had a working session with Power Generation Corporation 2 (EVNGENCO2) on the implementation status of the Quang Tri Hydropower Expansion Project and the Quang Tri 2 Hydropower - Irrigation Floating Solar Power Project, included in the adjusted Power Plan VIII.
At the meeting, EVNGENCO2 representatives reported on the implementation of key projects. According to the report, in the adjusted Power Plan VIII, EVNGENCO2 has 2 projects in Quang Tri province, including: Quang Tri Hydropower Project with a capacity of 48 MW, implementation period 2025 - 2030 and Quang Tri 2 Hydropower - Irrigation Floating Solar Power Project with a capacity of 40 MW, expected to be implemented from 2031 - 2035.

The Quang Tri Hydropower Expansion Project located in Khe Sanh commune has a scale of 1 unit with a capacity of 48 MW, a total preliminary investment after tax of about 867.55 billion VND, connected to the 110 kV grid, expected to be completed and put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2030. Currently, EVNGENCO2 has completed initial legal procedures, signed a consulting contract to prepare a report proposing investment policies with Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 (PECC1).
EVNGENCO2 representative requested the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to pay attention to directing departments and branches to promptly advise on updating and supplementing the Quang Tri Hydropower Expansion Project into the adjusted Provincial Planning, and at the same time include it in the Planning Implementation Plan to have a legal basis for implementing the next steps, ensuring the committed progress.
In addition, EVNGENCO2 representatives also pledged to closely coordinate with relevant authorities and strictly comply with legal regulations on investment, land, environment and social security.
Also at the meeting, representatives of departments, agencies and branches of Quang Tri province gave specific opinions, focusing on issues of completing legal documents, determining land use boundaries, assessing environmental impacts, planning power grid infrastructure connections, livelihoods for people, compensation, site clearance and resettlement arrangements for people in affected areas.

Accordingly, all opinions agreed on the need to speed up the necessary procedures, ensure feasibility, while ensuring safety, efficiency and conformity with the orientation of building Quang Tri into a clean energy center of the Central region.
Speaking at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam affirmed that Quang Tri province fully supports the investment policy to build the Quang Tri Hydropower Expansion Project and the Quang Tri 2 Floating Solar Power Project, considering these as important projects contributing to socio-economic development and realizing the goal of becoming the energy center of the Central region.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and localities to research and advise the Provincial People's Committee to review, update and supplement the project to the adjusted Provincial Planning, and at the same time guide investors to complete related documents and legal procedures.
Relevant departments and branches need to create the best conditions for the project to be implemented on schedule, safely, effectively, harmonizing the interests between economic development and environmental protection, ensuring the lives of people in the project area.
