Hai Phong Railway Station becomes a "Tourist Destination"

On the morning of May 10th, a ceremony was held in Hai Phong to announce that Hai Phong Railway Station has been designated a "Tourist Destination".

The event, organized by the Vietnam Railways Corporation in coordination with the City of Hai Phong, commemorates the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hai Phong (May 13, 1955 / May 13, 2025) – a heroic city.

Built in 1902, Hai Phong Railway Station is one of the oldest and most historically significant railway stations in Vietnam. On October 21, 1946, a train departed from here carrying President Ho Chi Minh back to Hanoi after attending the Fontainebleau Conference in France. Since then, October 21 has become the Traditional Day of Vietnam Railways.

With its classic French architecture, Hai Phong Railway Station is not only a transportation hub but also a building rich in historical, cultural, and artistic value, closely linked to the formation and development of the port city.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City, Vu Huy Thuong, expressed: “The event of Hai Phong Railway Station becoming the 12th “Tourist Destination” of the city acknowledges the efforts in preserving a beautiful architectural work that is symbolic of the city; at the same time, it affirms the close coordination between the Vietnam Railway industry and the Hai Phong city government in preserving and promoting the values ​​of the relic, gradually building Hai Phong Railway Station not only as a place to receive and send passengers by train but also as a cultural and tourist destination, the starting point for a journey to discover the beauty and famous culinary essence of the city of red flamboyant flowers.”

The train's interior is named "Red Flame Tree".

The event also included the inauguration of the high-quality train named "Red Phoenix Flower". This marks the first time the railway industry has put into operation a 34-seat VIP carriage with an Indochinese-style interior. The 56-seat carriage is equipped with new-generation seats that can rotate 180 degrees. All carriages feature spacious handwashing areas, modern and clean restrooms. In addition, the train also has standard 64-seat carriages with flexible fares to meet the diverse travel needs of passengers.
