On the morning of January 8th, Phu Quy Group listed the buying price of silver bars at 2.93 million VND/ounce and the selling price at 3.02 million VND/ounce, a decrease of approximately 126,000 VND compared to yesterday morning.
The price of silver bars at Sacombank Jewelry Company (SBJ) also fell sharply to 3.06 million VND/ounce for buying and 3.13 million VND/ounce for selling, a loss of approximately 93,000 VND per ounce.
Meanwhile, the price of silver per kilogram dropped by millions of dong. Phu Quy silver sold for 80.66 million dong per kilogram, while SBJ sold it for 83.68 million dong per kilogram. There was a significant price difference between brands, with the highest drop reaching 4 million dong in just one day.
Many people reported buying at the peak of silver prices the day before – when the price per kilogram of silver reached a historical high of over 84 million VND. However, silver prices reversed course and fell in line with global prices.

On the international market, silver prices also fluctuated sharply today, plummeting from a peak of $82.50/ounce to just $76.33/ounce. By this morning, the price had recovered to $77.75/ounce, but it is still down about 4% in just one session.
Silver prices tend to fluctuate in the same direction as gold, but analysts also warn that silver's volatility is often stronger. In the event of a reversal, silver prices could plummet sharply. Nevertheless, silver prices are still projected to have a positive outlook in 2026 after having risen by as much as 150% last year.
Strong investment and industrial demand have led to supply shortages over the past five years, impacting inventory levels and driving up silver prices.
In the domestic market, although silver is appreciating rapidly, its liquidity is lower than that of gold, and currently there are only a few popular silver brands. Some brands are also limiting spot sales, mainly requiring customers to place orders – paying in advance and receiving the silver within 1-3 months. Due to limited supply, online silver trading has become very active.
However, some experts advise people to be cautious when buying and selling silver on online marketplaces to avoid the risk of purchasing low-quality silver or being scammed.
The world price of silver, converted at the listed exchange rate, is approximately 2.47 million VND per tael.
