From the educational background of family and lineage
The family of Mr. Tran Van Minh in My Xuyen village, Nhan Ha commune has long been mentioned by neighbors as a shining example of solidarity and studiousness. Mr. Minh is currently the Party cell secretary and head of My Xuyen village; his wife is a retired education manager. In a family with many children and grandchildren, both grandparents are deeply imbued with the value of knowledge, and consider education with both example and love.
Sharing about the way of raising children, Mr. Minh expressed: “My family always believes that knowledge is the most valuable asset of each person on the journey of growing up and integrating. My wife and I always set an example for our children to follow, from behavior to learning spirit, always maintaining the image of exemplary parents and grandparents, inspiring our children and grandchildren to strive for success.”
Thanks to the loving upbringing and good example, the children in Mr. Minh's family have all grown up, have stable careers and have contributed a lot to their homeland. After graduating from university, Mr. Minh's two daughters returned to work in the local education sector. With the love for the profession instilled by their mother and the spirit of improvement from their father's example, both became excellent teachers at the provincial level, and were repeatedly awarded by the People's Committee of Ly Nhan district (before the merger) and the Provincial People's Committee.
Maintaining the tradition of studiousness, Mr. Minh's four grandchildren are all obedient, polite, have a good sense of learning, have been excellent students for many years, and actively participate in competitions for excellent students and intellectual playgrounds. Typical examples include Truong Tran Tu Uyen (14 years old) who won third prize in the Provincial Internet English Olympic Competition, second prize in the Provincial Reading Culture Ambassador Competition in 2025; Nguyen Anh Khoa (7 years old) who won second prize in the Provincial Reading Culture Ambassador Competition in 2024.
From the example of studious families like Mr. Minh's family, the movement to encourage learning continues to spread strongly in clans, typically the Do Dai Thanh Quang clan (Hai Hung commune). With the motto "Education is the foundation" and the importance of encouraging learning and talent in the career of cultivating people, since 1998, the Do Dai Thanh Quang clan has established the Learning Encouragement Committee to encourage and reward studious descendants, support students who overcome difficulties and maintain the tradition of studious learning of the clan through generations.
Over the years, the Do family has always relied on 4 criteria for evaluating "Learning Families": children's learning, adults' learning, learning conditions and learning effectiveness. To encourage that spirit, every year, the family often organizes visual educational activities at historical and cultural relics: President Ho Chi Minh relic site, Do family's ancestral tomb in Vietnam, Temple of Literature, ... or the degree stele recording the names of 82 descendants with high degrees at the family's ancestral courtyard; awarding students with excellent achievements. Many families in the family have promoted the learning habits of their fathers and brothers, actively trained and achieved the criteria of "Outstanding Learning Families". Up to now, the Do family has 2 Associate Professors - Doctors, 9 Masters, 32 Officers from the rank of Colonel and above.
The Vu family (Phat Diem commune) also has many good ways to encourage their children to study and become one of the model families for studying, leading in the work of promoting learning and talent in the area. Through 9 generations of descendants, the family now has 121 households with 312 people, of which more than 40 children are of school age.
Mr. Vu Toan Thang, Head of the Vu Family Education Promotion Committee, said: Since ancient times, the ancestors of the family have always cared about teaching their children and grandchildren: "Becoming a worker, becoming a teacher thanks to studying. Having enough food and warm clothes thanks to hard work". Therefore, to encourage children and grandchildren to study, the Vu family has mobilized their children and grandchildren who are teachers teaching at schools in the area to organize free classes on beautiful handwriting and reading practice in the summer for children entering grade 1, and English classes for primary and secondary school students. Not only for the children and grandchildren of the Vu family, but also for children in Phat Diem commune who have the need can participate. Every year, they organize exchanges with the family's examples of studiousness and overcoming difficulties to establish a career. In addition, the Vu family also launched the movement "Families to popularize university"; 100% of families in the family signed a commitment to implement the learning convention, build a learning family, and learn citizens."
With the creative and flexible ways of doing things of the Vu family, it has created a competitive atmosphere for each individual and each family in the family to carry out the movement of building families, clans, and learning communities. Up to now, the Vu family has 65 bachelors, 12 masters, 4 doctors, 1 major general, 35 teachers at all levels; 6 families have universalized university education.
Building a learning society
From the models of learning families like Mr. Minh's family, typical learning clans like Do Dai clan, Vu clan, we can see a common point: learning is not only the responsibility of the individual but also the pride and common responsibility of the whole family, clan, and is the foundation for building a sustainable society. The movement of learning families and clans is permeating each individual, contributing to the formation of a learning society in accordance with the spirit that the Party and State have been and are orienting.
In particular, since Decision No. 387/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the program "Promoting lifelong learning movement in families, clans, communities, and units for the period 2021-2030" was issued with specific criteria, setting higher requirements than the previous period, the role of families and clans in the process of realizing the goal of building a learning society has become more important and needs to be strongly promoted.
Mr. Do Van Sang, Chairman of the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education, emphasized: “Family and clan are the core of the learning movement. When the spirit of learning is nurtured from each family, spreading through clans, thereby forming cohesive learning communities, contributing directly to building a sustainable learning society, improving the knowledge and personality of the entire community.”
According to statistics, the whole province currently has more than 715,000 families and more than 7,600 clans recognized as learning families and clans. It can be seen that the influence of learning families has created learning clans in all localities and regions in the province, becoming an important premise and foundation, promoting the movement to encourage learning, encourage talents, and build a learning society that is constantly developing in the new period.
