At the markets, the retail price of yellow granulated sugar, fine-grained white sugar and large-grained sugar ranges from 20,000 to 24,000 VND/kg. In particular, branded packaged sugar is sold for 24,800 to 35,500 VND/1kg package; some organic sugar and diet sugar products cost 85,000 to 145,000 VND/package.

Ms. Le Hong Ngoc, a grocery seller at Vinh Long City Market (Point 2, Ward 4), said: "Sugar prices have decreased slightly compared to the beginning of the year, customers still prefer to buy retail sugar from 0.5 kg. I only import a few dozen kilos of each type, because purchasing power is not strong, if left for a long time, I am afraid that the sugar will get damp and difficult to sell."

Meanwhile, organic sugar and diet sugar mainly serve a specific customer segment and remain expensive. Many traders expect that when demand for food production increases again, sugar prices will stabilize.
