Rice prices fluctuate in opposite directions; paddy prices remain stable.

Today, July 18th, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region remained stable for paddy rice. Rice prices increased by 50 VND/kg for both raw and finished rice.

The rice market in localities across the Mekong Delta region is generally slow today, with less raw rice arriving due to rain, fewer good quality rice, and more poor quality rice.

Specifically in Sa Dec (Dong Thap), the supply is stable and rice prices are relatively stable. In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang ), prices are stable, but there is little high-quality rice. In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), transactions are stable, but the rice quality is poor, and there is little supply of unprocessed rice.

According to an update from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, rice prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday. Specifically, raw IR 504 summer-autumn rice is priced at 10,650-10,750 VND/kg, a decrease of 50 VND/kg; finished IR 504 rice is priced at 12,500-12,600 VND/kg, an increase of 50 VND/kg.

By-product prices today remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Currently, the price of IR 504 rice bran is at 8,700 – 8,900 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the price of dry rice bran remains stable at 7,000 – 7,200 VND/kg.

At retail markets, rice prices remain unchanged. Currently, Nang Nhen rice is listed at the highest price of 30,000 VND/kg; Jasmine rice at 18,000 – 20,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice at 20,000 VND/kg; regular white rice fluctuates around 15,000 – 16,000 VND/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice at 20,000 – 21,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice at 20,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice at 21,000 VND/kg; common white rice at 17,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice at 18,500 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice at 20,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice at 22,000 VND/kg.

Regarding rice, reports from various localities indicate slow trading of newly harvested rice due to rain, with many places halting purchases. Farmers are offering stable prices, but demand remains weak.

Specifically, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, rice prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday. IR 50404 rice is fluctuating around 6,900 – 7,000 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice is priced at 7,100 – 7,300 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice is stable at 6,900 – 7,200 VND/kg; OM 18 rice is priced at 7,000 – 7,200 VND/kg; OM 380 rice fluctuates from 7,000 – 7,200 VND/kg; Nhat rice is at 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 rice is priced at 7,600 – 7,700 VND/kg and Nang Nhen (dried) rice is at 20,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, the glutinous rice market saw adjustments compared to yesterday. The price of 3-month-old glutinous rice (dry) remained unchanged at 8,800 VND/kg to 9,000 VND/kg. Additionally, the price for Long An glutinous rice (dry) was 9,000 – 9,200 VND/kg. On the other hand, the price of 3-month-old glutinous rice (fresh) remained stable compared to yesterday at 7,300 – 7,500 VND/kg, while Long An glutinous rice (fresh) increased by 50 VND compared to today.

On the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices remained stable compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 100% broken rice remained stable at US$460/ton; standard 5% broken rice is currently at US$562/ton; and 25% broken rice is at US$538/ton.
