The live hog market on July 14 recorded a clear differentiation trend between regions. The North began to show signs of price adjustment after a series of stable days.
In the North , localities such as Hanoi , Quang Ninh, Lang Son and Cao Bang all reduced prices by VND1,000/kg, marking the first adjustment after nearly two weeks of flat prices.
The price reduction in Hanoi – the largest pork consumer in the region – shows that demand is showing signs of slowing down, causing the price of live pigs here to slightly decrease.
Currently, the average price in the North fluctuates between 66,000 - 68,000 VND/kg. Although the decrease is not significant, experts say that if this trend continues, the downward pressure on prices may spread in the coming days.
In the Central region, prices remained relatively stable. Except for Quang Ngai, which recorded a decrease of VND 1,000/kg, most provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang , Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak have not seen any price fluctuations.
However, if the Northern market continues to cool down, the Central region may also be affected due to the linkages in supply and demand between regions.
The South continues to be a bright spot on the national pig price map as it remains at a stable high level, with no changes recorded during the day. Provinces such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Can Tho, An Giang , Dong Thap, Ca Mau, Tay Ninh and Lam Dong still maintain prices from 69,000 - 71,000 VND/kg.
High prices in the South are supported by large-scale livestock farming systems, stable supply, effective disease control and strong consumption demand, not only locally but also for export to the North and Central regions.
