iPhone prices drop slightly before Tet (Lunar New Year).

With only about two weeks left until the Lunar New Year holiday, the mobile device market is entering its busiest period of the year. To maximize sales and stimulate consumer demand, many retail systems have implemented promotional programs since the beginning of January 2024, directly driving down the prices of many smartphone models, notably the iPhone 15 series – high-end phones that were just launched in Vietnam in October 2023.

According to Mr. Nguyen The Kha, Commercial Director ofFPT Shop, stimulating demand through promotions and discounts across the market is certain during this period. "We have had a specific program since the beginning of January, and the iPhone 15 series is currently heavily discounted, about 3 million VND lower than the listed price in October last year, with many flexible payment options," Mr. Kha stated.

Currently, the iPhone 15 Pro Max at this retailer has a suggested retail price of 31.99 million VND (listed price 34.99 million VND) for the lowest storage version, 256 GB. The remaining models in the new lineup have seen price reductions of 1 to 1.5 million VND. Specifically, the iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Plus, and 15 now cost 27.79 million VND, 24.99 million VND, and 21.99 million VND respectively. These prices are for the standard 128 GB storage version.

According to Di Dong Viet's website, the price of the iPhone 15 Pro 1TB has dropped by up to 2.1 million VND, now costing 39.39 million VND (this model was priced at 41.49 million VND in November). The iPhone 15 Pro Max 256GB is now priced from 31.39 million VND (previously 33.79 million VND), and the iPhone 15 Plus 128GB is now from 23.99 million VND (a reduction of approximately 1.8 million VND compared to November)... Other models have price reductions ranging from 400,000 VND to 1.6 million VND.

The quoted price may vary depending on the promotional programs of each authorized dealer. Some parallel support programs include trade-in, extended manufacturer's warranty packages, 0% interest installment plans, etc.

"With expected growth of 30-50% compared to the same period last year, this is considered the most vibrant shopping season of the year. In addition to adjusting prices to the best levels to stimulate demand, retailers are also integrating many optimized and cost-saving shopping services," a representative from Di Dong Viet shared.

Mr. Nguyen Lac Huy, representative of the CellphoneS system, commented: "In the last three years, iPhone prices have tended to be quite stable, even during the Lunar New Year period, without any price increases. This shows that authorized retail systems, along with the manufacturer and distributors, have worked more closely in supplying goods and forecasting market demand."

Mr. Nguyen The Kha added that, historically and up to the present time, a large surge in consumption is expected to occur in the two weeks immediately before the Lunar New Year, with an anticipated increase of 30-50% compared to the current week.

"The projected growth products are mobile phones, especially new product lines including the iPhone 15 series, Samsung Z Flip, and smartphones from other brands such as Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi... This is because there is a trend of upgrading devices as consumers start receiving year-end bonuses, in addition to the demand for gifts or purchases for relatives when returning home for Tet," an FPT Shop leader commented.
