iPhone prices drop slightly before Tet

With only about 2 weeks left until the Lunar New Year holiday, the mobile device market is entering its busiest business period of the year. In order to "close sales" as high as possible and stimulate consumer demand, many retail systems have implemented shopping promotion programs since the beginning of January 2024 until now, directly pushing down the prices of many smartphone lines, notably the iPhone 15 series - high-end phone models that were just launched in Vietnam in October 2023.

According to Mr. Nguyen The Kha, Commercial Director of FPT Shop system, stimulating demand with promotions and discounts taking place across the market is certain during this period. "We have had a specific program since the beginning of January, especially with the iPhone 15 series, which is being heavily discounted, about 3 million VND lower than the listed price in October last year, with many flexible payment options," said Mr. Kha.

Currently, the iPhone 15 Pro Max in this system has a reference price of 31.99 million VND (listed at 34.99 million VND) for the lowest capacity version of 256 GB. The remaining models in the new line have been reduced from 1 to 1.5 million VND. Specifically, the iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Plus and 15 have new prices of 27.79 million VND, 24.99 million VND and 21.99 million VND, respectively. This price is for the standard capacity version of 128 GB.

Referring to the Mobile World system, the price of iPhone 15 Pro 1 TB has been reduced by 2.1 million VND, currently 39.39 million VND (in November, this model was priced at 41.49 million VND). iPhone 15 Pro Max 256 GB from 31.39 million (old price 33.79 million VND), iPhone 15 Plus 128 GB from 23.99 million VND (reduced by about 1.8 million VND compared to November)... Other models have a reduction ranging from 400,000 VND to 1.6 million VND.

The reference price may vary depending on the incentive program of each authorized dealer. Some supports are applied in parallel such as old-for-new exchange (Trade-in), additional genuine warranty extension package, 0% interest installment payment...

"With an expected growth of 30-50% over the same period, this is considered the most exciting shopping period of the year. In addition to adjusting prices to the best level to stimulate demand, retailers also integrate many optimal and economical shopping services," said a representative of Mobile World.

Mr. Nguyen Lac Huy - representative of CellphoneS system commented: "In the past 3 years, iPhone prices have tended to be quite stable even during Tet, there is no longer a price increase. This shows that authorized retail systems, together with the company and distributors, have worked more closely in supplying goods as well as forecasting market demand."

Mr. Nguyen The Kha added that, historically and up to now, high consumption is expected to take place in the 2 weeks right before Lunar New Year with an expected increase of 30 - 50% compared to the current week.

"The products with forecasted growth are phones, especially new product groups including iPhone 15 series, Samsung Z Flip, smartphones from other phone brands such as Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi... Because this is a trend of upgrading devices when consumers start receiving year-end bonuses, besides the need to give gifts or buy for relatives when returning home for Tet," said the leader of FPT Shop.
