Gia Lai spends 728 billion VND to improve the quality of boarding and semi-boarding schools for ethnic minorities

In the next 5 years, Gia Lai province plans to spend 728 billion VND on investment, upgrading and equipping facilities for the network of ethnic boarding and semi-boarding schools in the province.

On June 24, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province announced that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just signed and issued a project to develop and improve the qualityof education at ethnic boarding schools and semi-boarding schools in the area for the period 2025 - 2030.

Currently, Gia Lai province has 17 ethnic boarding schools. Of which, 2 provincial-level ethnic boarding schools have 26 classes and 838 students; 15 district-level schools have 95 classes and 3,031 students.

All schools meet national standards, with basic facilities and equipment to meet the needs of teaching, learning, and boarding for students.

But according to regulations, most schools need to invest in additional facilities, upgrade and renovate degraded buildings; need to invest in ethnic cultural and educational activity houses, music rooms, and traditional rooms.

In addition, the province has 23 ethnic boarding schools at all levels with 11,586 students. The schools still lack items such as ethnic cultural and educational activity houses, music and art rooms, and traditional rooms.

Many schools have damaged and degraded facilities and equipment that need to be supplemented and upgraded to serve students' accommodation and learning needs.

The newly issued project aims to develop a system of boarding schools and semi-boarding schools in the province to meet the requirements of improving quality and comprehensively developing human resources of ethnic minorities.

Contribute to training human resources, improving people's knowledge, stabilizing political security and developing socio-economy.

The main tasks include investing in upgrading facilities, equipment and increasing the educational scale of schools. Establishing a new Pleiku Regional Ethnic Boarding School - Middle School with 12 classes and 420 students.

The total proposed investment capital under the project is more than 728 billion VND, including 590.2 billion VND of development investment capital, and 137.8 billion VND of career capital from the central and local budgets.
