After reaching $2,800 per ounce, the price of gold on the world market today, February 1st, set a new record by surpassing $2,820 per ounce.

World gold prices closed at an all-time high.

Thus, during the Lunar New Year holiday alone, the price of gold in the world increased by as much as $70/ounce. In January 2025 alone, the spot price of gold increased by more than 7%.

At the close of the trading week, world gold prices fell slightly to $2,801.2 per ounce. This was an unprecedented closing price.

At the current price, converted using the exchange rate listed at banks, the world gold price is equivalent to 85.44 million VND per tael.

Gold prices surged dramatically and repeatedly set records at the beginning of the new year, surprising investors. Expert Tran Duy Phuong believes that with the current closing price, world gold prices have not yet peaked, meaning that world gold prices are likely to continue rising early next week.

Global gold prices rose due to increased demand for safe-haven assets from investors as US President Donald Trump's tariff plans heightened concerns about economic growth and inflationary pressures worldwide.

Investors are concerned that the world is about to enter a new trade war and inflationary pressures are rising globally. And gold is a favored safe-haven asset during times of high economic and geopolitical risk like the present.

Many financial institutions are currently forecasting that the global gold price could reach $3,000 per ounce, which would push domestic gold prices higher than the current level.

However, the nature of gold is that it fluctuates, so it is highly likely that after reaching an all-time high, there will be intermittent declines due to profit-taking pressure.

Domestic gold prices increased by 800,000 VND per tael.

Domestically, several gold shops have listed new prices today. At Mi Hong Gold Shop, the selling price of SJC gold bars is 88.5 million VND/ounce, and the buying price is 86.8 million VND/ounce, an increase of 800,000 VND/ounce in the selling price and 400,000 VND/ounce in the buying price.

Notably, the selling price of 9999 gold at Mi Hong gold shop also reached the same level as the SJC gold bar price, at 88.5 million VND/ounce, while the buying price was 86.7 million VND/ounce.

Bao Tin Minh Chau company is listing the selling price of gold rings at 88.9 million VND/ounce, while the buying price is 86.6 million VND/ounce.

On the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, gold companies and banks will reopen.

If world gold prices remain at their current levels, domestic gold prices are likely to rise sharply as the God of Wealth Day (the 10th day of the first lunar month) approaches.
