Only a few hours remain until the official start of the 7th National Book Awards Ceremony in 2024. In the atmosphere of excitement leading up to this year's ceremony, a season with many innovations, the appreciation ceremony held just before the event is a new feature. This gives us the opportunity to sit down, meet, chat, share, and honor those who have contributed to the success of the National Book Awards and the development of reading culture in our country over the years. The National Book Award is the result of a collective effort.
First of all, on behalf of the leadership of the Ministry of Information and Communications, allow me to express my sincere gratitude to the authors, translators, and scientists who , with their talent, enthusiasm, and tireless efforts, have brought forth outstanding works imbued with cultural and intellectual value to generations of Vietnamese readers, enriching the treasure trove of knowledge and the soul of Vietnam. I wish the authors and translators continued good health so that they may continue to create even more valuable works and projects to serve readers. The success of each book is inseparable from the role of publishers and collaborating units. On behalf of the leadership of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the state management agency in the field of publishing, I would like to commend the efforts and creativity of the publishers that have contributed to the success of today's Book Award. On behalf of the Ministry's leadership, I would like to express my gratitude for those efforts and dedication, and through you, I would like to thank the editors, illustrators, and technical staff of the publishing houses and affiliated units, who have silently contributed to bringing books to readers. Over six seasons, the National Book Award has received increasing attention and recognition from readers. This success would not have been possible without the team of scientists who participated in the judging process. More than 80 scientists, including many leading experts, despite their busy schedules, still dedicated their time to participate in the judging. After four months of continuous work, right up to the very last days, just a few days ago, I still saw the members of the judging panel working, proposing changes, making adjustments, and striving their best until the very last moment of the season to select the outstanding books from hundreds of titles to award prizes. This is truly a difficult and challenging task, requiring dedication, intellect, and courage from each member of the Council. On behalf of the Ministry of Information and Communications, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the invaluable contributions of the scientists, which have helped to make the award a success and a prestigious one.Expectations for the National Book Award in the era of national progress.
Each year, our Book Awards undergo positive changes. They become larger in scale, offer higher prize values, and are organized more professionally and formally. This success, along with the efforts of authors, publishers, partners, and the enthusiasm of the scientists participating in the judging panel, also stems from the support and patronage of our sponsors and benefactors. Each year, we receive more support and contributions from various agencies and organizations. We understand and are aware that these contributions stem from a shared understanding of the goals and significance of the Book Awards. We sincerely thank our sponsors and hope they will continue to be involved in developing the Book Awards to become even larger and more meaningful. On this occasion, I would also like to express my special thanks to Vietnam Television, which has closely collaborated with the Ministry of Information and Communications to support the media coverage of the Awards. Comrade Nguyen Thanh Lam, Director General of Vietnam Television, former Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, has devoted much effort and dedication, contributing innovations and creativity to this award. We would like to thank the organizing units: the Vietnam Publishers Association, the Publishing, Printing and Distribution Department, the Press and Publishing Department (Central Propaganda Department), and many other units that have cooperated closely and responsibly to contribute to the success of previous seasons. As the organizing unit of the National Book Award, the Ministry of Information and Communications understands its honor and responsibility to continuously innovate and create so that the award becomes stronger and more prestigious. The success of previous seasons is a foundation, but for the award to develop further in the future, much effort from each of us sitting here will be needed. I hope that, in the future, the National Book Award will continue to receive the companionship, support, and contributions of all authors, scientists, publishers, affiliated units, and sponsors, so that our book culture will increasingly develop, reach further, and truly become an indispensable part of the spiritual life of every Vietnamese citizen, so that knowledge becomes the driving force for the comprehensive development of the country into a new era - an era of national progress. The 7th National Book Awards Ceremony (2024) will be held at 8 PM on November 29, 2024, at the Grand Theatre (Hanoi), and will be broadcast live on VTV1. Sponsors include: Vingroup, Vietcombank, Vietinbank, BIDV, Agribank , and Vietnam Paper Corporation.
