World coffee prices today

At the close of the most recent trading session, Robusta coffee prices in London for November 2024 delivery rose by $96/ton to $4,507/ton, and for January 2025 delivery rose by $98/ton to $4,421/ton.

Arabica coffee prices for December 2024 delivery increased by 4.50 cents/lb to 252.90 cents/lb, while prices for March 2025 delivery increased by 4.35 cents/lb to 251.85 cents/lb.

Despite a drop in coffee prices last month, they are still nearly double the price compared to the same period last year, fluctuating between 60,200 and 61,000 VND/kg, an increase of over 40,000 VND/kg compared to the beginning of the year. This price level has made coffee growers very happy, even though the harvesting costs and effort are prolonged.

Coffee harvesting is a lengthy process, requiring the picking of ripe cherries to ensure quality and protect the plants for the next crop. Mr. Tran Mai Binh, Director of Hoa Linh Coffee Cooperative, stated that harvesting is not just about picking the cherries; it also involves guarding against theft, requiring farmers to constantly assign people to watch over the plants.

Di Linh district has 46,400 hectares of coffee plantations, with an annual production of approximately 150,000 tons. The head of the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development stated that although the harvest season hasn't begun, high prices could easily lead to theft. The local authorities are coordinating with the district People's Committee and the police force to conduct patrols, especially in areas far from residential areas, to protect the crops.
