According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 am today, Vietnam time, was 2,618.77 USD/ounce. Today's gold price is unchanged from yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (25,760 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 81.5 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 3.2 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

Markets will be closed midweek on January 1, so many analysts will be focused on celebrating the new year rather than watching financial markets, according to Kitco. Barring any major surprises, many analysts expect gold prices to continue to fluctuate between rising bond yields and safe-haven demand due to growing geopolitical and economic uncertainty.
Gold prices were capped at $2,650 an ounce last week; however, the market was able to withstand significant headwinds as the 10-year Treasury yield rose to 4.64%, its highest level in seven months.
The precious metal remained range-bound heading into the weekend, even as bond yields remained high above 4.6%. Spot gold futures last traded at $2,618.30 an ounce, down 0.57% on the day. Meanwhile, gold prices fell 0.18% on the week.
“Gold’s resilience this week was underpinned by escalating geopolitical tensions. Investors are closely monitoring conflicts in Eastern Europe and the Middle East,” James Hyerczyk, market analyst at FX Empire, said in a note on Friday. “Israeli airstrikes on Houthi targets in Yemen and Russian drone strikes in Ukraine have reinforced gold’s appeal as a safe haven asset. This geopolitical backdrop continues to keep gold in play, with traders hedging against further flare-ups.”
At the same time, some analysts note that President-elect Donald Trump's social media comments expressing interest in annexing Canada, the Panama Canal and Greenland have also increased geopolitical tensions and instability.
Hyerczyk said the key support level to watch next week will be $2,607 an ounce. He added that gold needs to break above $2,665.65 to regain momentum. In the current environment, he noted that the path of least resistance appears to be down.
“The near-term outlook for gold remains bearish, with rising yields and a stronger US dollar acting as stronger drivers than geopolitical risks,” he said. “However, the current move is occurring during a historically slow trading week and thinner trading volumes could limit the continuation.”
Looking at economic data, 2024 ends on a fairly light schedule, with some home sales and manufacturing data coming in. Markets will also continue to monitor the US labor market, particularly next week’s weekly jobless claims data.
Continuing unemployment claims rose to their highest level in a year last week. The data shows that while the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits for the first time remains relatively stable, laid-off workers are struggling to find new jobs.
The continued rise in unemployment claims suggests the job market is slowing, said Jeffrey Roach, chief economist at LPL Financial.
