Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên11/06/2023

Established in 1896 under the name of Phap Tu Quoc Hoc Duong, the school was initially just a "thatched house, earthen walls", specializing in teaching French, Quoc Ngu, and Chinese characters at the primary level. In 1915, the school was solidly rebuilt with "tiled roof, brick walls" in French architecture, renamed Collège Quoc Hoc and converted into a secondary school (level 2). In 1936, the school changed its name to Lycée Khai Dinh and expanded to level 3. In 1955, the school continued to change its name to Ngo Dinh Diem secondary school and returned to the name Quoc Hoc from 1956. Up to now, through many renovations and additions, Quoc Hoc still retains its ancient features.

The gate of Quoc Hoc School (as it is today) was built in 1958 (designed by artist Ton That Sa) in the form of a three-entrance gate (three entrances) commonly seen in traditional Vietnamese architecture, with a watchtower above and two layers of roof covered with glazed yin-yang tiles.

Opposite the school is the Monument to Fallen Soldiers (because it is located in front of the National School, Hue people often call it the National School Stele) built in 1920 to commemorate French and Vietnamese soldiers who fought and died in World War I.

Quoc Hoc School is the place where many famous political leaders are trained: Ho Chi Minh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Tran Phu... Currently, this is also one of the high-quality high schools in Vietnam with many students winning high prizes in domestic and international competitions.
