On October 5, Egyptian authorities officially opened a high-level investigation to clarify the mysterious disappearance of an ancient limestone stele from the Khentika tomb in the Saqqara archaeological site, near the capital Cairo.

Notably, the Khentika tomb was completely sealed and has not been opened since 2019. The site was discovered in the 1950s and is currently used as a repository for antiquities.

In a statement issued the same day, Mr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled - Secretary General of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities confirmed that the case has been transferred to the Public Prosecution for urgent investigation, and emphasized that all necessary legal procedures are being urgently implemented.

In addition, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is closely monitoring the investigation process and coordinating closely with relevant authorities.

Earlier in September, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities also announced that a royal bracelet belonging to King Amenemope - a pharaoh of the 21st Dynasty of ancient Egypt (reigning from 993 to 984 BC) - had disappeared from the laboratory at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

After an investigation, Egyptian authorities confirmed that the bracelet had been stolen by a restorer.

According to the Egyptian Ministry of Interior , this golden relic passed through the hands of three people before being completely melted down./.
