The new feature promises to deliver a more natural, faster, and easier-to-follow communication experience in multilingual conversations on mobile devices. Specifically, Gemini 3.5 Live Translate can automatically detect over 70 languages and has been integrated into the Google Translate app on both Android and iOS.

One of the highlights of this update is its ability to minimize awkward pauses, providing a smoother translation experience that is closer to real-life conversations. Unlike previous translation systems, Gemini 3.5 allows for continuous translation with delays of only a few seconds, while preserving the speaker's intonation, rhythm, and pitch.
Enhance the Google Translate experience.
Gemini 3.5 Live Translate is very useful in many situations such as traveling , chatting with foreigners, studying, making phone calls, or in meetings. Gemini 3.5 can handle multiple languages without manual configuration and works effectively even in noisy environments.
To use Gemini 3.5 Live Translate, users simply open the Google Translate app and select the "Live Translate" option in the bottom left corner. This experience is designed for use with headphones, allowing users to listen to translations more privately and naturally.

On Android, Google also introduced a "Listen" mode, allowing users to listen to translations directly through their phone's speaker without needing headphones.
Additionally, the Gemini 3.5 Live Translate feature will be integrated into Google Meet, expanding support to over 70 languages and creating more than 2,000 language combinations within a single meeting. This is also a major step forward in expanding translation capabilities on Google Meet, no longer limited to English, improving communication in meetings with participants from various countries. The new feature will be launched as a private preview for select Google Workspace enterprise customers, with a wider rollout planned later this year.
