After six months of intensive construction, the spacious new house of Mr. Vo Van Trung's family (born in 1979) in the resettlement area of Truong Tho village, Hai Thai commune, Gio Linh district is now basically complete.
It is known that Mr. and Mrs. Trung's former house was located within the land planned for the construction of the North-South Expressway (Eastern section), specifically the Van Ninh - Cam Lo section.
Since March 2024, thanks to the persuasion and encouragement of the local authorities, his family has agreed to accept compensation for land clearance and relocate to the resettlement area.
"Having a new, spacious house near the commune center, convenient for our children to go to school like this, my wife and I feel very happy."
"In particular, we are even happier that our family's agreement to relocate to a new residence has contributed to accelerating the progress of key projects of the province and the nation," Mr. Trung said.
It's not just Mr. Trung's family; many other households have built new homes and settled down in the two resettlement areas in Hai Thai commune.
According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Thai commune, Hoang Doan, the land clearance work in the commune has been completed 100%. To achieve this result, in addition to the strong and decisive involvement of the entire political system in propaganda and mobilization work; understanding the legitimate aspirations of the people, the good compliance with the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws by each household also played a very important role.
"We have mobilized the entire political system, maximizing the role of socio-political organizations and influential people in the community, staying close to the grassroots, understanding and grasping the concerns of households, and using various forms of propaganda and persuasion to raise people's sense of responsibility for the benefit of the locality and the community."
For households with legitimate concerns and aspirations, the commune leaders have proposed that higher authorities consider and resolve them promptly. Thanks to this, the land clearance work for the project has proceeded smoothly. Upon completion, the North-South expressway section from Van Ninh to Cam Lo, passing through the commune, will contribute to promoting the local socio-economic development and transforming the rural landscape of the commune.
"Through this experience, the commune has also learned valuable lessons in propaganda and mobilization work so that it can do better in the future when other key projects and works pass through," Mr. Doan affirmed.
In recent years, Gio Linh district has been one of the localities where many key projects and works have been implemented, such as: the North-South Expressway (Eastern section, Van Ninh - Cam Lo); Quang Tri Airport; the Eastern Bypass Project of Dong Ha City; the coastal road connecting the East-West Economic Corridor; the tourism infrastructure development project supporting comprehensive growth in the Greater Mekong Subregion; and the North-South Expressway...
Information from Gio Linh district indicates that significant results have been achieved in land clearance for key projects to date.
At the Eastern North-South Expressway project, the Van Ninh - Cam Lo section has completed land clearance and handed over a clean site to the construction unit. The Quang Tri Airport project, with a total area of 265 hectares, has cleared approximately 180 hectares and handed over 140 hectares to the investor.
Construction is progressing on schedule. The Eastern Bypass Road project in Dong Ha City is approximately 13 km long; 12 km have been handed over so far, and the remaining 1 km is currently being addressed by the district authorities to resolve any obstacles and ensure its handover to the investor as soon as possible.
Regarding the 13-kilometer-long coastal road connecting the East-West Economic Corridor, the district has completed land clearance and handed over approximately 6.5 kilometers. Speaking with reporters, the Chairman of the Gio Linh District People's Committee, Vo Dac Hoa, stated that the people's consensus has contributed to accelerating the land clearance process for key projects.
In the past, to ensure the effective implementation of land clearance, the district's compensation, support, land clearance, and resettlement council has developed plans and strategies for each specific project; assigning tasks to members and specialized units in accordance with their responsibilities and duties to achieve high work efficiency.
Local authorities have enhanced their sense of responsibility in managing and implementing land compensation and clearance in their areas; mobilizing the strength of political and social organizations and the community to participate in propaganda and persuasion efforts to gain people's consensus.
“The leadership and direction of land clearance for projects in the district have always been closely monitored, with propaganda and mobilization efforts prioritized and involving the entire political system. To promptly address difficulties and obstacles, the District People's Committee has requested relevant units to regularly update the progress of land clearance. Emphasis is placed on strengthening propaganda and mobilization, organizing direct dialogues with the people to resolve outstanding issues arising at the grassroots level. In addition, full compensation and support policies are being implemented for people in the project area,” Mr. Hoa said.
According to Mr. Hoa, in the coming time, Gio Linh district will continue to focus on leadership and guidance, and intensify propaganda, mobilization, and persuasion of the people to effectively implement relevant regulations in land clearance work, contributing to accelerating the progress of key projects and works. When key projects of the province and the nation are completed, they will contribute to promoting the continuous socio-economic development of Gio Linh district.
