Hanoi has two more secondary schools equipped with STEM classrooms.

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the morning of September 29, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son attended the inauguration ceremony of two STEM classrooms at Tay Mo Secondary School and Tay Mo 3 Secondary School, in Tay Mo Ward, Hanoi.

Also attending the ceremony were comrade Lai Xuan Lam, Deputy Secretary of the Government Party Committee; leaders of several central ministries and branches, Hanoi City, Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group ( Petrovietnam ), along with the Board of Directors and students of Tay Mo Secondary School and Tay Mo 3 Secondary School.

These are 2 of the first 7 STEM classrooms in the country, modern and meeting international standards, supported by Petrovietnam with a total value of over 3 billion VND.

These STEM rooms are equipped with modern machinery systems, such as computers, laser cutters, microscopes, laboratory equipment, tools for manufacturing and assembling...

According to Mr. Tran Quang Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Petrovietnam Party Committee, in the next 100 days, 100 STEM rooms meeting international standards will be deployed in all 34 provinces and cities across the country. The STEM rooms will be connected to each other, even internationally so that students can exchange and share experiences, together promoting innovation and creativity right at school.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Government leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son sent to teachers and all students his best wishes for the educational and training achievements of Tay Mo Secondary School and Tay Mo 3 Secondary School.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the inauguration of the two STEM classrooms today has profound significance in the context of the Party and State issuing many breakthrough policies and decisions to develop science, technology, innovation; develop education and training to bring our country into a new era, realizing the goal of Vietnam becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045.

In order for the country to rise up and stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers as Uncle Ho always wished, the Deputy Prime Minister said that students must have the best learning conditions, and teachers must also be equipped with the best conditions to impart knowledge to students. Equipping STEM classrooms is one of the tools to help students have the best learning conditions, the most creativity to contribute to the development of the country.

The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated Petrovietnam's active support, saying that this is a vivid manifestation of the policy of socialization and diversification of investment resources for education that the Government is strongly promoting; affirming that the spirit of social responsibility and patriotism of enterprises is an important resource, together with the State, taking care of the country's future.

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of ​​equipping learners with knowledge and skills related to the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics - in an interdisciplinary approach, instead of teaching four separate and discrete subjects.

STEM not only provides knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, but more importantly, trains students in creative thinking, problem-solving skills and collaboration – essential qualities of global citizens.

In recent years, the Ministry of Education and Training has paid special attention to innovating teaching methods in the direction of STEM, encouraging schools to build experiential, innovative and creative learning spaces, demonstrating the industry's determination in training a new generation of citizens: both solid in knowledge, rich in creative aspirations, and capable of applying science and technology to serve the country's development.

With the construction and use of modern STEM classrooms, the education sector is gradually moving towards a model of transnational, borderless classrooms, where students can connect, exchange, and study with international friends, thereby opening up opportunities for them to become global students, confidently integrating and affirming Vietnam's position in human knowledge. The inauguration ceremony of the STEM education practice room today is in response to the Petrovietnam STEM Innovation Program, initiated by General Secretary To Lam.

Previously, on May 14, 2025, General Secretary To Lam visited and presented two STEM classrooms to Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Cau Giay Secondary School - two of the leading high-quality educational institutions in Hanoi.

"This is not only a material gift, but also a strong commitment of the Party and State to continue investing in the future, awakening creative potential, and nurturing passion for science and technology in the young generation of Vietnam," General Secretary To Lam emphasized.

The education and training sector of the Capital is the largest in the country with more than 2,954 schools, nearly 2.3 million students and nearly 143,000 teachers. From the 28th position out of 63 provinces and cities, the education sector of the Capital has risen to the top of the country, always leading in national excellent student competitions, always contributing a large number of students to international competitions.
