On November 5, Ha Dong District Police (Hanoi City) said that the Criminal Police Team had just clarified the property theft case, which occurred at the Mullberry apartment building (Mo Lao ward).
Accordingly, at the end of October, local police received many reports of thefts at the above apartment. The stolen assets were expensive bicycles that were "forgotten" by the owner or left in the lobby without being properly locked. At the same time, the apartment's security also lacked control.
Even many vehicle owners do not know that their property has been lost until they are notified by the authorities.
During the investigation, using professional measures, Ha Dong District Police determined that the thief had a relationship with the apartment residents and knew of loopholes in vehicle maintenance and care.
Through surveillance cameras, the police found that the common point in the thefts was that there was a Peugeot car leaving the basement. The owner of this car is a female resident of the building. The girl has a boyfriend who often comes here.
After verification, the authorities summoned this female resident's boyfriend, Nguyen Huy Hung (37 years old) to the headquarters to work.
Here, Hung initially denied the crime, however, when faced with clear evidence, Hung bowed his head and admitted the theft.
The suspect claimed that after many visits to the apartment complex, he noticed that the security forces were very negligent in taking care of bicycles. Therefore, Hung stole 3 bicycles from residents three times, on October 3, October 18 and October 10.
According to authorities, Hung is the owner of a car parking lot in Trung Van ward (Nam Tu Liem district). The subject has 4 criminal records for acts of disturbing public order and harming the health of others.
Through the incident, the commander of Ha Dong District Police requested the security forces of the apartment buildings and the residents themselves to be conscious of protecting their property, avoiding creating loopholes for bad guys to take advantage of.
At the same time, the leader also recommended that apartment buildings need to install surveillance cameras in hidden spots, around areas where people pass by; Installing vehicle and vehicle access control systems using magnetic cards.
