Hanoi and Army dominate National Boxing Championship

(NLDO) – The strongest boxers continue to assert their leading positions at the National Boxing Championship and their superiority helps the two delegations of Hanoi and the Army continue to hold their number 1 positions.

After more than a week of competition, the 2024 National Boxing Championship concluded on the evening of September 18 in Can Tho City. Hundreds of fierce matches between strong units across the country such as Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Army, An Giang, Thai Binh, Bac Ninh... brought a tournament that was truly raised in terms of expertise.

The presence of top boxers, including those who have competed in the qualifying round and at the Paris Olympics, is considered a motivation for more than 300 boxers at the tournament. With careful preparation by all delegations for the top national competition event, the tournament is truly a show of force and a great festival for Vietnamese boxing.

While today's top martial artists such as Vo Thi Kim Anh ( An Giang ), Ha Thi Linh, Nguyen Thi Tam (Hanoi), Nguyen Van Duong, Nguyen Manh Cuong (Bac Ninh), Vu Thanh Dat (Dong Nai), Nguyen Minh Cuong (HCMC)... all overcame all obstacles to reach the finals and won the highest prizes in the 19-40 age group, the competitions in the 17-18 age group really brought a lot of hope.

The youth boxing map has been spreading across many provinces and cities, not to mention many localities have hired foreign experts to drastically improve the quality of youth training, bringing positive signals to the movement. With fierce competition, high professional quality and very few complaints about refereeing, the 2024 national championship has been successful beyond the expectations of experts.

Vietnamese Boxing is aiming for major tournaments such as the 2025 SEA Games, 2026 ASIAD or the 2028 Olympics. The 2024 National Championship is an opportunity to select and implement investment plans for a new generation of players, capable of competing in all tournaments in the future.

Age 19-40:

The 2024 National Boxing Championship will be organized in 2 age groups: 17 - 18 years old (14 weight classes for men, 13 weight classes for women); 19 - 40 years old (14 weight classes for men, 13 weight classes for women). In the final night on September 18, held outdoors at Luu Huu Phuoc Park (Ninh Kieu, Can Tho), the Vietnam Boxing Federation and the Organizing Committee of the tournament organized on-site donations, received a total of more than 60 million VND and transferred it to the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Can Tho city to support the people of the North who are facing difficulties due to storms and floods.
