More than 300 IT applications in Hanoi have been migrated to the cloud computing platform, making it easier for citizens to access online public services.
At VNPT IDC Hoa Lac (Thach That, Hanoi), a modern technology space emerges in the heart of the high-tech zone. December 6th not only marks the inauguration of the Hanoi Main Data Center but also signifies a significant step forward in the capital's digital transformation roadmap.
Citizens, businesses, and the government are all looking forward to this event with the expectation of a smart, modern Hanoi where technology plays a crucial role in sustainable development.
The "Digital Brain" of the Capital City
Inside the VNPT IDC Hoa Lac complex, instead of conventional office buildings, it's a world of modern machines—equipment for storing and processing data with tight security.
During a tour, a representative from VNPT IDC Hoa Lac told us that the main Hanoi Data Center has state-of-the-art technology, ensuring stable operation, high security, and the ability to meet future expansion needs.
A key feature of the Center is its use of private cloud computing technology, enabling flexible, secure, and cost-effective data systems. The security system is designed with six layers of rigorous defense, from the outside to the data storage area (Data Hall), ensuring the highest level of data security. Furthermore, the center's operational team consists of highly trained professionals holding international certifications such as CDFOM, CDRP, CDMS, CTDC, CCNA, and CCNP, ensuring continuous 24/7 system operation.
Notably, this center not only serves the administrative needs of the government but also acts as a valuable asset to citizens and businesses. More than 300 information technology applications in Hanoi (document management systems, administrative procedures, citizen feedback systems, etc.) have been migrated to the cloud computing platform, enabling Hanoi residents to easily access online public services, from administrative registration to healthcare and education applications.
This center is also responsible for ensuring the management of the entire city's technical infrastructure system, including centralized and distributed servers at various units, managing the WAN network connecting to all departments, agencies, districts, and towns, maintaining stable and continuous operation 24/7; building, linking, and integrating common and specialized software to serve information technology application programs in state agencies and to serve citizens and businesses.
"With advanced digital infrastructure and groundbreaking technological solutions, the Main Data Center will be a crucial foundation for Hanoi to build a smart city that better serves its citizens and businesses," affirmed a representative from VNPT IDC Hoa Lac.
According to this representative, the system processes millions of data requests daily from the city's IT applications. But thanks to virtualization and cloud computing, everything runs smoothly, quickly, and stably.
Strategic Partner
According to experts, Hanoi is pioneering the adoption of data as the "lifeblood" of a modern city. The Central Data Center will play a pivotal role in building a smart city ecosystem. Accordingly, data from transportation, healthcare, education, and environmental systems will be connected and processed centrally. This will not only help the government manage more effectively but also support decision-making based on scientific analysis, rather than intuition.
For Hanoi's Main Data Center to become operational, in addition to the determination and close guidance of the capital's leaders, there was also the commitment and cooperation of the consortium of contractors including Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group, Sun Viet Information Technology Development Joint Stock Company (SVTech), and VinaPhone Telecommunications Services Corporation.
However, it's not just the Main Data Center; for a long time, VNPT has been a partner of the Hanoi People's Committee in its journey into the digital era with many important technology projects, such as: deploying the Reporting Information System (VNPT-VRS) integrated with the Government Reporting Information System; the centralized document management and operational system (VNPT-iOffice), effectively supporting the city's leadership and management...
“This Hanoi City Main Data Center project not only demonstrates the trust the city places in VNPT, but also represents a breakthrough in the capital's approach to technology. Instead of investing in and operating it itself, Hanoi has shifted to a model of leasing IT services, a direction recommended by the Government to optimize costs and resources,” said a leader of VNPT Group.
The center is not just a technical infrastructure, but also a foundation for Hanoi's long-term development. The system will help government agencies improve their leadership, management, and decision-making capabilities based on data. The information technology applications at the center operate stably, continuously, and securely, effectively meeting the needs of citizens, businesses, and the government. Simultaneously, the integration of advanced technologies such as VMware virtualization solutions and Morpheus Data cloud management software helps save state budget, increase flexibility, and improve operational efficiency.
According to experts, the Data Center is a solid foundation for Hanoi to continue pursuing its strategic goals of comprehensive digital transformation. With this systematic investment in technology and infrastructure, they expect Hanoi to become a symbol of innovation and sustainability, ready to enter a new era of national progress.
