In recent years, picture books by Vietnamese authors have seen a significant improvement, receiving considerable attention from readers both domestically and internationally, and being enthusiastically embraced by parents and children alike.
Many books published by Kim Dong Publishing House have been reprinted numerous times over the years, their publishing rights have been sold to many countries around the world , and they have attracted attention at many international book fairs. Thanks to this, Vietnamese picture book authors have more motivation to continue creating, and their works are becoming increasingly refined.
The picture book series "A Friendship," recently launched by Kim Dong Publishing House on December 20th in Hanoi , offers unique and fresh creative experiences revolving around the theme of friendship by Vietnamese authors and illustrators.
These are the first publications of the "Magical Letter S" book series project, jointly implemented by Kim Dong Publishing House and The Initiative of Children's Book Creative Content (ICBC), aiming to promote the creation of children's picture books on diverse topics by Vietnamese authors and illustrators.

The book series was launched with the first four volumes: "We Are Friends," "A Poem for You Every Month," and "My Hanoi."
Since their release and introduction at the Frankfurt International Book Fair, the two books "We Are Friends" (Vietnamese) and "We Are Friends" (English) by authors Thanh Tam, Phuong Vu, and Hoai Anh, in collaboration with translator Ngo Ha Thu and illustrator Cam Anh Ng, have received much attention. The books tell the story of a journey to discover the warm and joyful world of friendship.
"A Poem for You Every Month" is a miniature portrayal of friendship, encapsulated within the space of an old apartment building, encompassing all four seasons of love. Heartwarming stories of friendship are told in rhythm with time, each month a gentle poem, like an endless journey of friendship and sharing.
"My Hanoi" is a bilingual Vietnamese-English book by author Phuong Vu, who was born and raised in Hanoi. Beginning in a small room in an old-style apartment building, the book follows two young friends on their journey of friendship. Readers will visit familiar landmarks in the Old Quarter, admire a colorful Hanoi, browse street vendors, and breathe in the fragrance of flowers, plants, and the aroma of traditional Vietnamese soup.
To introduce the "A Friendship" book series to a wider audience, Kim Dong Publishing House, in collaboration with ICBC, is organizing a book launch week from December 20th to December 28th. This week includes exhibitions, reading sessions, and workshops with the authors, bringing the works closer to young Vietnamese readers.
