
With 6,489 inventoried relics of various types, Hanoi has the largest number of historical, cultural, architectural, artistic, and scenic relics in the country.
To better preserve and promote the value of historical relics, among the inventoried relics, the city always reviews and prepares dossiers to propose the recognition of valuable relics.
Regarding city-level historical sites, in the first recognition phase, the City People's Committee recognized 17 sites of various types.
In the latest round of recognition, on June 10th, the People's Committee of the city issued Decision No. 2859/QD-UBND on the ranking of historical and cultural relics and scenic spots in the city.
According to the Decision, the relics classified at the city level include: Bac Cau 3 Pagoda (Thuan Loi Temple, Ngoc Thuy Ward, Long Bien District), Bach La Khe Ancestral Temple (La Khe Ward, Ha Dong District), Dun Duong Communal House (Lien Quan Town, Thach That District), Phuong Hai Communal House (Dong Phuong Yen Commune, Chuong My District), Ngo Family Ancestral Temple and Mausoleum (Cao Son Tien Commune, Ung Hoa District), Noi Luu Communal House (Binh Luu Quang Commune, Ung Hoa District), Ngoc Truc Communal House (Dong Lo Commune, Ung Hoa District), Vu Ngoai Communal House (Lien Bat Commune, Ung Hoa District), Vu Ngoai Pagoda (Truong Khanh Temple, Lien Bat Commune, Ung Hoa District).
After the relics are classified, the People's Committees of the districts of Long Bien, Ha Dong, Thach That, Chuong My, and Ung Hoa are responsible for publicly disclosing and implementing protection measures, demarcating protected areas for the relics, and simultaneously compiling dossiers for marking the boundaries on the ground.
The People's Committees of the wards, communes, and towns of Ngoc Thuy (Long Bien), La Khe (Ha Dong); Lien Quan (Thach That); Dong Phuong Yen (Chuong My); Cao Son Tien, Binh Luu Quang, Dong Lo, and Lien Bat (Ung Hoa) shall establish Relic Management Boards to ensure the protection and promotion of the value of these relics.
The city requires that all construction or exploitation activities within the designated protected areas and classified historical sites are strictly prohibited. In exceptional cases where land use or construction is necessary at a historical site, permission must be obtained from the City People's Committee.
The city assigns the Department of Culture and Sports , the People's Committees of the districts, communes, and towns mentioned above that have classified relics to carry out state management of these relics, ensuring compliance with regulations on cultural heritage.
