Greek authorities said two Vietnamese tourists died off the coast of Sarakiniko on August 8 amid strong winds in the area, forcing many tourist boats to suspend operations, according to AFP.
A spokesperson for the Greek coast guard said that a man and a woman died on Sarakiniko beach on the tourist island of Milos in the Cyclades archipelago in Greece. Both were found unconscious at sea and were identified as Vietnamese nationals. They were taken to a local medical center but did not survive.

According to a representative of the coast guard, both were tourists on a cruise ship. The woman fell into the sea, and it appears the man tried to jump in to save her but was swept away by the current.
According to Greek media, the bodies of the Vietnamese couple were brought ashore by a private boat before being transferred to a medical center.
The accident occurred amid strong winds that caused wildfires and disrupted ferry services across Greece, affecting thousands of tourists. Greek authorities said wind gusts reached 88 km/h, particularly in the southern Aegean and Crete Seas.
