Although there is still more than half a month until the Mid-Autumn Festival, the "Mid-Autumn Festival Street" – Hang Ma Street – is already bustling with buyers and sellers; many parents are already browsing and choosing Mid-Autumn Festival decorations and toys for their children.
Wide variety of designs, stable prices.
According to observations by a reporter from the Industry and Trade Newspaper, immediately after the end of the 15th day of the 7th lunar month, Hang Ma Street ( Hanoi ) became more vibrant thanks to the colors of Mid-Autumn Festival toys and decorations.
This year's Mid-Autumn Festival toys are more abundant and diverse thanks to a wider variety of eye-catching designs and colors, ranging from traditional toys to imported goods.

According to Mr. Tuan, the owner of a stall on Hang Ma Street, in the last one or two years, customers have tended to prefer traditional lanterns and toys.
"To please customers, this year the shops are mainly importing traditional handcrafted toys and decorations. They're only importing a small amount of imported goods or modern items to keep up with trends," Mr. Tuan said.
In terms of price, the market has remained stable compared to the same time last year. Decorative lanterns range in price from 50,000 VND/piece to 500,000 VND/piece depending on style and size. Handheld lanterns are priced from 60,000 VND/piece.

Mr. Tuan also said that prices will fluctuate from now until the end of the Mid-Autumn Festival and will reach their "peak" around the 8th to the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.
"Prices will increase by around 5,000 - 20,000 VND per item, depending on the type; the more popular the item, the higher the price will be," Tuan predicted.
Traditional toys are making a comeback.
According to observations, traditional toys account for 70-80% of the products at stalls on Hang Ma Street (Hanoi). Toys such as hand drums, balancing bamboo dragonflies, and handmade paper lanterns are among the most commonly sold items.
Traditional toys have also been modernized with updated decorations, incorporating lights and music inside. With affordable prices ranging from 5,000 to a few tens of thousands of dong per item, these toys are easily accessible to all families.

Particularly, animal-shaped lanterns equipped with lights and music range in price from 30,000 to 280,000 VND each depending on size, suitable for a wide range of customers.
Besides lanterns, brightly colored papier-mâché masks depicting characters from folklore and literature such as Chí Phèo, Thị Nở, the 12 zodiac animals, and Uncle Tễu are widely available in stores, priced from 35,000 to 80,000 VND each. These products attract significant interest from organizations and schools, who order large quantities to decorate for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
While choosing handmade paper lanterns as gifts for his children, Mr. Tran Minh Hao (Cau Giay, Hanoi) said: "I want my children to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in a traditional atmosphere, so they can understand the old atmosphere that their parents and grandparents experienced."
Sharing the same view as Mr. Hao, Ms. Le Thu Lan (Ba Dinh, Hanoi) chose handcrafted lion heads, star-shaped lanterns, and traditional lanterns to decorate her home so that her children could enjoy the Lunar New Year reunion in the most traditional way.

"My children are now exposed to modern, convenient life, but I'm sure they will never fully experience the atmosphere of the past. I want to preserve a bit of that tradition, so I will recreate my house to resemble what I remember from my childhood about the Lunar New Year reunion," Ms. Lan shared.
Speaking to reporters, many shop owners on Hang Ma Street also said that these days, many customers are coming to inquire about buying traditional Mid-Autumn Festival decorations. There are also many large orders for decorating businesses, offices, or schools. In addition, many charity groups are also coming to buy traditional toys such as star-shaped lanterns, hand drums, or small drums to organize Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations for underprivileged children in remote areas.
