Rudiger's outrageous actions

In the early hours of April 17th, Antonio Rudiger committed an extremely brutal foul in Real Madrid's 1-2 defeat to Arsenal in the second leg of the 2024/25 Champions League quarter-finals.

In the 60th minute at the Bernabeu, after pushing Myles Lewis-Skelly from behind, Rudiger continued to stomp on the young Arsenal talent with his left foot while attempting to block the ball.

Slow-motion replays clearly showed the Real Madrid defender's foot striking Skelly in the stomach, leaving the Arsenal player writhing in pain on the pitch. However, what was even more infuriating was that the referee did not issue a card despite strong protests from the players and spectators.

The incident quickly spread on social media, with a wave of harsh criticism directed at the referee's decision to ignore the foul as well as Rudiger's behavior. Many fans called it "a blatantly overlooked blatant foul."

After Arsenal beat Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate to reach the Champions League semi-finals, Lewis-Skelly posted a picture of Rudiger stepping on his stomach, along with a photo of himself smiling, as a humorous response to his opponent's tackle.

After PSG overcame Aston Villa, Arsenal will face the French team in the semi-finals. The first leg is scheduled for April 29th. In the other bracket, Barcelona will clash with Inter Milan after both teams defeated Dortmund and Bayern Munich respectively.
