Hau Giang has a new Provincial Party Secretary.

Kinhtedothi - On December 12, the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo's decision approving Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, to hold the position of Secretary of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

At the conference, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Department Do Trong Hung announced Decision No. 1729-QDNS/TW dated December 4, 2024, of the Politburo approving Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, to hold the position of Secretary of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

On behalf of the Politburo, Politburo member, Central Committee Secretary, and Head of the Central Organization Department Le Minh Hung presented the Decision and offered flowers to congratulate Mr. Dong Van Thanh on assuming his new responsibilities.

In his remarks assigning the new duties, Politburo member, Central Committee Secretary, and Head of the Central Organization Department Le Minh Hung emphasized that Mr. Dong Van Thanh is a well-trained cadre who has risen through the ranks from the grassroots level and has held many positions.

Mr. Dong Van Thanh is considered by the Politburo to be a capable and experienced official, deeply connected to the grassroots; in all his positions, he has consistently performed his duties well and excellently, contributing to the overall achievements of his agency, unit, and locality. The Politburo is confident that with his experience and commitment to Hau Giang province, Mr. Dong Van Thanh will successfully fulfill the assigned tasks.

The Head of the Central Organizing Committee requested that the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and all levels and sectors of Hau Giang province continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, unity, sharing, support, and create conditions for Mr. Dong Van Thanh, in his capacity as Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, to focus on leading and directing the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 14th Hau Giang Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025; most importantly, to unite and strive to further develop Hau Giang in the coming time.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Hau Giang province, expressed his gratitude to the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Central Organization Department, and other central agencies for their attention and trust in assigning him this responsibility.

"As the head of the province, I will strive to continue learning, be open to feedback, and do my best with dedication and commitment, quickly adapting to new tasks; inheriting the achievements and valuable experiences of my predecessors; and I pledge to use all my abilities and intellect, working together with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Party Executive Committee to build a strong and effective political system for the well-being and happiness of the people," Mr. Dong Van Thanh emphasized.

Mr. Dong Van Thanh, born on June 24, 1969, is from Phong Dien District, Can Tho City. His professional qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, and his political qualifications are at the advanced level.

 

In 2004, at the time of the separation of Hau Giang province and Can Tho city, Mr. Dong Van Thanh held the position of vice chairman of the People's Committee of Chau Thanh A district.

Vietnam encourages US businesses to expand investment in high technology.On the morning of June 26th, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung received Mr. Jeff Place, Supply Chain Director of Coherent Group (USA). During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam encourages US businesses to expand investment, especially in high-tech, innovation, and semiconductor industries.

In June 2007, he was transferred and appointed as Deputy Chief of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee Office. In May 2011, Mr. Thanh was appointed as Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office.

In August 2014, at the 9th session of the 8th term of the Hau Giang Provincial People's Council, Mr. Dong Van Thanh was elected to the position of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2011-2016 term. In October 2015, he was appointed to the position of Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee.

In October 2020, at the 18th session of the Hau Giang Provincial People's Council, 9th term, 2016-2021, Mr. Thanh was elected to the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
