Accordingly, the session voted to approve the Resolution supporting the reorganization of commune-level and provincial-level administrative units. Specifically, it approved the establishment of An Giang province by merging the entire natural area and population of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces. After the reorganization, An Giang province will have a natural area of nearly 9,900 km² , a population of nearly 5 million people, and 102 subordinate grassroots-level administrative units.
Regarding the reorganization of commune-level administrative units, the meeting unanimously agreed to establish Chau Doc ward by merging the entire natural area and population of Vinh Nguon, Chau Phu A, Chau Phu B, Vinh My wards and My An hamlet (Vinh Chau commune). After its establishment, Chau Doc ward has a natural area of over 41km2 and a population of 97,438 people.
At the same time, the establishment of Vinh Te ward was approved based on the merger of the entire natural area and population of Nui Sam ward, Vinh Te commune, and the remaining part of Vinh Chau commune. After its establishment, Vinh Te ward will have a natural area of 64.2 km2 and a population of 40,222 people. Through consultation, over 99.6% of voters in Chau Doc City agreed with these proposals.
