Following the success of the vibrant Cosmic Orange color on its predecessor, the iPhone 18 Pro Max promises to have a brand new color option that will shake up the smartphone market in the near future.
According to leaked internal information, Apple is preparing to launch a completely new main color for the iPhone 18 Pro line: Dark Cherry – a deep red tone that exudes sophistication, depth, and luxury.
Previous leaks had mentioned a "deep red" version, but in reality, Apple's approach is much more subtle. Instead of a bright, "fruit punch" red that easily catches attention, the company is said to have opted for a wine-toned red – warm, deep, and with a focus on lasting aesthetic value.

This restraint is what prevents the Dark Cherry color on the iPhone 18 Pro Max from making an "explosive" first impression like Cosmic Orange, but instead scores points for its depth and elegance, enough to become a distinctive hallmark of this year's Pro line.
Following a familiar cycle, refreshing the color palette also means that current options, including Cosmic Orange, will likely be removed from the catalog by Apple. This is seen as a strategic move to maintain a sense of freshness across generations, while reinforcing the appeal of successor versions from launch.
Not stopping at Dark Cherry, Apple is reportedly quietly testing a range of new color options for the 2026 Pro lineup, aiming to perfect a distinctly different brand identity.
Among them, Light Blue stands out as a youthful and modern option. This light blue shade is said to be similar to Mist Blue, which previously appeared on standard versions, aiming for a more refined and approachable feel compared to traditional, bold, premium colors.
Conversely, Dark Gray represents a minimalist philosophy – a neutral, dark gray tone suitable for users who prefer a streamlined, understated look that still exudes robustness and professionalism. Meanwhile, Silver is almost certain to remain, playing a core role with its classic silver tone that has become iconic on high-end iPhone models for many years.
According to leaked information, the internal color codes Apple is testing include Light Blue (Pantone 2121), Dark Cherry (Pantone 6076), Dark Gray (Pantone 426C), and Silver (Pantone 427C). However, all of these are still in the development stage, as the iPhone 18 Pro Max has not yet entered mass production.
This means the company can completely adjust, or even remove, one or more options before the official launch. In fact, Apple doesn't always release all the color options it has tested.
On previous generations of iPhones, some color options that were considered ultimately didn't make it to the commercial product. Therefore, the official color palette of the iPhone 18 Pro Max remains a mystery, but it's clear that Apple's "selective differentiation" strategy is becoming increasingly evident with each generation.
