At a recent meeting to discuss tourism development solutions in Vung Tau ward, tourism experts and businesses offered many positive assessments and specific proposals to realize the tourism potential of the new area following the merger of Ho Chi Minh City with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

As the economic and cultural center of the country, Ho Chi Minh City plays a crucial role as a hub connecting destinations on this new tourism route. The latest statistics from the City's Department of Tourism show a vast tourism development potential with 808 resources, 7,211 tourism businesses, and 9,540 tour guides. In particular, the development of transportation infrastructure such as Long Thanh Airport and the North-South railway system will be a driving force for regional connectivity, creating favorable conditions for domestic and international tourists to access new destinations.

The 15 newly announced tourism programs, such as "Ho Chi Minh City from River to Sea," "Touching Nature," and " Exploring Vietnamese Ceramics - The Spirit of the Steel Land," are clear evidence of the direction towards developing diverse and sustainable tourism, effectively exploiting the potential of the expanding space towards the future.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, emphasized the strategic vision: "Vung Tau Ward needs to be oriented towards developing into a world-class regional and international destination. This requires specific support policies and close coordination between Ho Chi Minh City and the locality to create distinctive and attractive tourism products, especially strongly exploiting night tourism and water sports activities."

On the local side, Ms. Tran Thi Bich Van, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vung Tau Ward, affirmed the potential and commitment: "We have all the conditions to become a tourist city with key areas. Our proposal is to be granted the authority to manage and organize events and exploit services for greater flexibility. In particular, we hope to pilot the 'tourism ward' model with a special financial mechanism, where revenue from tourism will be immediately reinvested to upgrade infrastructure and services."

From a business perspective, Mr. Le Hong Tu, General Director of BT Tour, offered practical suggestions: "Organizing large-scale events such as beach volleyball or surfing tournaments is essential to attract tourists and extend their stay."

There is a consensus that linking Ho Chi Minh City (the financial and intellectual center), Binh Duong (the industrial hub), and Vung Tau (the economic gateway to the sea) will create a complete tourism value chain. This combination will not only effectively channel tourists and reduce pressure on the city center but also offer visitors a diverse and comprehensive experience, from dynamic urban areas to green spaces and marine heritage, promising a bountiful tourism season for the entire region.

Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry is currently focusing on key tasks such as administrative procedure reform, issuing a set of management guidelines, and providing standardized information to businesses. This not only enhances competitiveness but also creates a professional and friendly tourism environment, ensuring the best possible experiences for tourists, especially during the peak tourist season at the end of the year.
