For a long time, Vietnam has often been excluded from the priority list of many foreign stars when touring Asia; while Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore are the preferred choices. Occasionally, performances by foreign stars are organized, but mainly on order to serve events of a corporation or brand, with exorbitant fees.
However, recently, the choices of many foreign stars have changed. YouNet's social media trend statistics show that after the "8Wonder" concert, in just 24 hours, there were nearly 50,000 discussion topics with high positive ratings. Clips of Charlie Puth's performances circulating on social media platforms like TikTok and Facebook have millions of views.
Upon returning to South Korea, the Blackpink members posted memorable moments from their trip to Vietnam. Despite her limited Vietnamese language skills, Rosé still made an effort to interact with her Vietnamese fans. Within just two hours of posting, the series of photos of Rosé posing with a conical hat garnered over 1.1 million likes and more than 11,700 comments.
The presence of international artists in Vietnam is a welcome development, showing that our organizational capabilities have improved significantly compared to 10 years ago. Ms. Pham Kim Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Light Music Center, commented: "Vietnam's organizational approach has left a strong impression on foreign artists. They also enjoyed the performances in Vietnam."
However, for Vietnam to become an attractive destination for international music stars, we need to invest more in performance facilities, have a highly skilled technical team, and establish a professional ticketing and payment system…
