A special Doraemon episode titled "A Gift: A Trip to Vietnam" was released on May 23rd. The approximately 11-minute episode opens with Shizuka expressing her desire to travel to Vietnam. She had seen the Hoi An lantern festival on TV and was very curious and eager to experience it. Meanwhile, Suneo boasts that he had also been to Vietnam and was impressed by the scenery and delicious food.

Many viewers expressed their delight at seeing Vietnamese culture and cuisine featured in the popular animated series.
The episode "The Gift is a Trip to Vietnam" was made to promote the 45th Doraemon blockbuster film: The New Nobita and the Castle Under the Sea (new version). This film, upon its release, became a box office sensation, grossing nearly 80 billion VND as of the morning of May 24th.
