Ha NoiCoach Kiatisuk Senamuang and his students defeated Ho Chi Minh City Club 2-0 in round 9 of the V-League on the evening of February 18.
Coach Kiatisuk struggled to lead HAGL. It took him until round 8 to get a win, and the mountain town team finished at the bottom of the table.
But after being elected by Duc to agree to move to lead CAHN on loan, the Thai military leader immediately changed his luck.
Contrary to his predecessor Gong Oh-kyun, coach Kiatisuk does not use young players but believes in established stars, such as goalkeeper Filip Nguyen, midfielder Bui Hoang Viet Anh, and two full-backs Vu Van Thanh and Ho. Tan Tai, midfielder Le Pham Thanh Long, Nguyen Quang Hai and two foreign soldiers Jeferson Elias and Gieovane Magno. With the strongest squad, CAHN dominated the opening match.
In the first half, the ball almost only rolled on Ho Chi Minh City's field. The pressure created by the home team materialized in the 24th minute when Jefferson Elias chose the correct position and headed past goalkeeper Pham Huu Nghia to open the score. Four minutes later, they doubled the gap when Tan Tai and Van Thanh coordinated well, destroying Ho Chi Minh City's left wing, then passed the ball in for Gieovane to comfortably score from close range.
The gap was almost widened in the 45th minute. Elias had the ball when Van Thanh stood in an unmarked position, but CAHN's foreign soldier clumsily passed across and ruined the opportunity. Out of regret, Van Thanh got angry, threw his shin, and blamed his teammates.
In the extra minute, CAHN hit Ho Chi Minh City's net for the third time when Gieovane turned the ball away, eliminated the opponent's defender and cleverly finished the shot into the far corner. However, after consulting VAR, the referee canceled the goal because he thought the home team's foreign player was offside.
With nothing left to lose, Ho Chi Minh City pushed its offensive line forward in the second half. The away team prospered and began to organize some good moves, creating scoring opportunities. But the foreign duo Cheick and Ntep were ungainly, constantly finishing without danger, sending the ball straight to the position of goalkeeper Filip Nguyen.
The 2-0 score remained until the end of the hour, helping coach Kiatisuk win on CAHN's debut day. Defending champion V-League rose to 5th place with 15 points, seven points behind leader Nam Dinh. In round 10, coach Kiatisuk and CAHN continued to play at home, taking on Thanh Hoa.
