Before the match against the young team of thousands of islands, coach Troussier confirmed that U22 Vietnam was completely ready to get tickets to the final.
“Before the 32nd SEA Games, the goal of U22 Vietnam was to participate in the semi-finals and we did that.
In the last 2 SEA Games, Vietnam won gold medals, so we have a responsibility to protect this position for Vietnamese football. That is our ultimate goal.
Having reached the semi-finals, there is no weak team. No game is easy because every team wants to win the top position," coach Troussier said.
The French military leader said that the SEA Games is a tournament for young players and the team with more bravery and confidence will win.
“Of course, in football, there will be winners and losers. In any match, the winning team will be the team that proves bravery, not only in the results on the field but also in the tactical battle. That's what U22 Vietnam is preparing for the semi-finals.
The frame of U22 Vietnam has about 60-70% of U20 players. But they are all very confident.
Of course, that doesn't need to be expressed in my words, but it comes from the determination of the whole team. This is the key to our victory.
We are ready to take on the challenge. This will be a beautiful semi-final against U22 Vietnam,” said the French military leader.
In addition to the positive evaluations of the students, coach Troussier also pointed out the weaknesses of the red shirt army at this year's tournament.
“More than half of the U22 Vietnamese force belongs to the U20 age group. They all have talent and qualities, but at that age the players do not have real combat experience and bravery, which leads to tension.
U22 Indonesia is very strong, has a reasonable playing method. So we must try our best.
We will have a beautiful, quality semi-final and that is good for the development of Southeast Asian football," said coach Troussier.
According to the schedule, the match between U22 Vietnam and U22 Indonesia will take place at 16pm on May 13.
