Vietnam U17 coach reveals strategy to defeat Australia.

Coach Cristiano Roland was pleased with Vietnam U17's 2-1 victory over Australia U17, but reminded the whole team to focus on the final match against Malaysia.

“I am very happy with this result. The victory came from the very thorough preparation of the coaching staff as well as the players. The Vietnam U17 team entered the match with confidence, and despite conceding an early goal, they were not affected psychologically,” said coach Cristiano Roland after the 2-1 victory over Australia U17 in the semi-finals of the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 Championship.

According to the Brazilian coach, the key factor that helped the Vietnam U17 team stage a comeback was patience and perseverance. He said: "We maintained calmness and patience in our gameplay. That was the key for the team to turn the situation around against a very strong opponent like Australia."

I want to thank the coaching staff and the players for fighting with the highest spirit. This is a well-deserved victory for what the Vietnam U17 team showed.”

In the final, Vietnam U17 will face Malaysia U17 again. In the group stage, Nguyen Luc and his teammates defeated their opponents 4-0. Commenting on the upcoming match, coach Cristiano Roland said: "We still have a very important match ahead. Vietnam U17 needs to maintain high concentration and prepare as best as possible for the final."

Malaysia will enter the final with a completely different form and mindset. Therefore, we need to prepare thoroughly and must not be complacent.”

The final match of the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 Championship between Vietnam U17 and Malaysia U17 will kick off at 7:30 PM on April 24th.
