As the Lunar New Year approaches, alongside peach blossoms, kumquats, and orchids, magnolias are becoming a popular choice among Hanoi residents, becoming a trending flower choice for this year's Tet holiday. Therefore, magnolias are increasingly appearing in many traditional flower stalls in the capital's ornamental flower market, contributing to the diversity of flower preferences during Tet.
In familiar areas like Quang Ba flower market or along Hoang Hoa Tham and Lac Long Quan streets, magnolias are sold in various sizes, from branches over a meter tall with many buds, to smaller branches purchased by enthusiasts for vases and table decorations. The flowers impress with their large blooms, thick petals, beautiful shape, and elegant colors. The price of magnolias on the market currently ranges from tens of thousands to several million dong per branch, depending on size, number of buds, and branch shape.
Compared to traditional flowers, magnolias possess a beauty that leans towards elegance. The flowers have a light, subtle fragrance, and when displayed in a living room or hallway, they create a pleasant focal point without overwhelming the space. In particular, magnolias are relatively durable, blooming for a long time, making them a popular choice for the period leading up to Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year).
According to Mr. Le Van Hoa, a long-time ornamental flower vendor on Hoang Hoa Tham Street, most magnolia branches currently sold in Hanoi are imported from China. The price range for magnolias is quite diverse. Mr. Hoa stated that common magnolia branches, about 1 to 1.5 meters tall, cost around 500,000 VND. Taller branches with beautiful shapes and many buds can range from 4 to 5 million VND.
Reporters from the Industry and Trade Newspaper captured some images of magnolia trees and businesses in Hanoi:

Magnolia branches with large, thick-petaled flowers in a deep purplish-pink hue are blooming along many streets in Hanoi.

A magnolia branch is being offered for sale by a shop owner on Hoang Hoa Tham street for 600,000 VND.

Besides the magnolia branches that have already bloomed, many vendors display branches with buds and unopened flowers so that buyers can take them home and enjoy the flowers for a long time.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien from Cau Giay chose small magnolia branches to display in her living room.

Buyers are happy when they find a magnolia branch they like.

Magnolias are sold in large quantities at Quang Ba flower market.

The magnolia branches are neatly tied together by the sellers, protecting the flower buds and maintaining the branch's shape during transport home.

According to vendors, magnolia flowers are mainly imported from China.

Besides traditional retail outlets, magnolia trees are also widely sold on e-commerce platforms at a variety of prices, from small branches costing a few hundred thousand dong to large trees costing several million dong.
