On December 7th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training organized a science and technology competition for junior and senior high school students.
At the event, the topic "Creative solutions to generate interest in learning about the Ho Chi Minh Campaign" by student Nguyen Song Ngoc Chau (9th grade, Tran Van On Secondary School, District 1) attracted the attention of many attendees.
Ngoc Chau's product is a game with quite eye-catching sound and visuals. Before starting the game, players watch a short clip about the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
"It took me three months to write this game. Then, it took me another two months to get 2,846 eighth and ninth graders from my school and Le Van Tam Secondary School in Binh Thanh District to play it. After receiving feedback from them, I revised the product and asked 749 more students to play it. Then I continued to refine it to create the product we have today," Chau said.
Ngoc Chau further revealed: "The Ho Chi Minh Campaign is a topic in my 9th-grade history curriculum. I chose this knowledge as a way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025)."
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, in the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City will have 2,109 science and technology projects from junior and senior high school students participating in competitions at the grassroots level. Of these, 946 projects will participate in the preliminary round at the city level.
At the competition on December 7th, judges from universities in Ho Chi Minh City will independently evaluate the projects to select 12 entries to participate in the National Science and Technology Competition.

21/22 fields of science and technology
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the city-level science and technology competition, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, remarked: "Of the 22 fields stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Training, the science and technology projects of Ho Chi Minh City students fall into 21 fields. This is not to mention the significant increase in the number of projects this year compared to last year."
Besides schools with established experience, this year also saw projects from students of many new schools. This shows that science and technology activities for high school students are increasingly developing and expanding throughout the city.
Overall, the scientific and technical research process of urban students is becoming increasingly standardized, creating a significant step forward for their own learning and training."
It is known that in the 2023-2024 school year, Ho Chi Minh City had one project by a student from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted that won first prize at the national science and technology competition and second prize at the international science and technology competition.
