Recently, STEAM for Vietnam in collaboration with the American Center (under the US Embassy and Consulate in Vietnam) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology successfully organized the 2023 National VEX IQ Robotics Championship to select the 20 best teams to compete at the 2023 VEX Robotics World Championship taking place in May 2023 in the United States.
The 2023 National VEX IQ Robotics Championship is a large-scale Robotics (design, construction and application of mechanical robots) tournament, helping students across the country learn and practice knowledge related to science , technology, engineering and mathematics. In addition, contestants also develop soft skills necessary for the future such as computational thinking skills, problem solving and teamwork skills. The tournament has 162 registered teams with more than 700 contestants from 169 primary and secondary schools in 33 provinces and cities across the country. Of which, 47 teams compete in the primary school tournament for students under 12 years old, 115 teams compete in the secondary school tournament for students under 15 years old. The teams compete in two main challenges: Robot skills challenge and alliance challenge.
After more than two months of launching and implementing (from December 6, 2022 to February 26, 2023), with many dramatic matches, the organizing committee has found the 20 best teams of the tournament to compete at the VEX Robotics World Championship 2023 in the United States. This is the largest VEX Robotics tournament in the world, held annually, bringing together more than 3,000 teams from more than 60 countries around the world to compete.
Dr. Tran Viet Hung, co-founder of STEAM for Vietnam, said: “We are delighted that students from all regions of Vietnam are now given the opportunity to study and compete in Robotics with the highest standards and international integration. Certainly, the experience of competing at the World Championship in the United States will have a great impact on their awareness, helping them from today to develop the skills and experience to be able to compete in the global technology market in the future. We hope that the teams participating in the tournament will inspire more students to study Robotics design and programming in Vietnam - the first steps to becoming real engineers in the future.”
STEAM for Vietnam is a non-profit organization, founded in May 2020 by former Vietnamese students studying in the United States to promote activities related to STEAM education ( Science , Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) in Vietnam. In addition to organizing Robotics tournaments for students nationwide, STEAM for Vietnam also coordinates with units to establish a national STEAM Hub-Technology Library System with more than 50 STEAM Hubs across Vietnam from Ha Giang to Ca Mau to serve the learning needs of more than 30,000 students. In addition, STEAM for Vietnam has also successfully organized 5 free programming semesters for Vietnamese students, attracting the participation of more than 35,000 students with more than 100,000 computer programming projects completed.
