On the morning of July 30th, the Lai Chau Provincial Department of Health, in collaboration with the Department of Maternal and Child Health ( Ministry of Health ) and Ajinomoto Vietnam Company, organized a conference to promote the software "Building nutritionally balanced menus for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children from 7 months to 60 months old".
The conference was attended by representatives from the Department of Maternal and Child Health, the Lai Chau Provincial Department of Health , the Provincial Center for Disease Control, Ajinomoto Vietnam Company, and officials working in reproductive health, nutrition, obstetrics, and pediatrics in the province.
At the conference, the technical advisor of Ajinomoto Vietnam shared information about the content and significance of the software in healthcare and nutrition for mothers and children, and how it can be applied to nutritional care for this group, helping to improve the stature of future generations in Vietnam.
The software provides a database of nutritionally balanced meal plans for mothers and babies under 5 years old, with over 2,000 dishes researched and developed for each stage, from the beginning of pregnancy to breastfeeding for mothers, and from 7 months to under 60 months old for babies. The software also offers tools for monitoring home health and nutritional knowledge compiled by experts. Users simply need to register an account at www.dinhduongmevabe.com.vn to use all features completely free of charge.
The software is an effective tool to assist healthcare workers in providing nutritional counseling to pregnant women and mothers with young children at healthcare facilities, while also supporting mothers in practicing proper nutrition at home and in the community, contributing to improving the nutritional status of mothers and children in the province.
Speaking at the conference, Dr. Nguyen The Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, emphasized: Nutritional care for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children aged 7-60 months is one of the key tasks and top priorities in the maternal and child health care strategy in Vietnam. The period from pregnancy to the age of 5 is a foundational period that determines the physical, intellectual, and immune development of children. However, Lai Chau is still facing many challenges such as: energy deficiency in pregnant women; a high rate of malnutrition among children under 5 years old compared to the national average; and micronutrient deficiencies such as iron, zinc, and vitamin A…
In the context of digital transformation, the health sector in Lai Chau province is actively promoting the application of information technology. Nutrition management and counseling software will be a crucial solution to comprehensively, accurately, and effectively improve the quality of nutritional care for mothers and children, helping to reduce fetal malnutrition, childhood malnutrition, and especially stunting.
Following the conference, Ajinomoto Vietnam Company, in coordination with the Department of Health, organized direct training for healthcare workers and mothers, guiding them on how to register, use, and proficiently practice the software's contents. In addition, the Department of Health also requested units to strengthen communication about the software through publications and introduce the software at each unit.
