The event brought together leading doctors and researchers in the fields of oncology, radiology, diagnostic imaging, and surgery, along with representatives from international medical technology corporations such as Siemens Healthineers… to update on advances in breast cancer screening – the disease with the highest incidence rate among Vietnamese women – to promote professional cooperation and personalize care for breast cancer patients in Vietnam. The workshop was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Dung - Vice President of the Vietnam Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Tuan Linh - Director of the Center for Radiology and Intervention, Hanoi Medical University Hospital.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Tuan Linh - Director of the Center for Radiology and Intervention, Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Deputy Head of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging, Hanoi Medical University.
Attending the workshop in person, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hung - Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Health - expressed the special interest of the capital's health sector in the prevention and early detection of breast cancer.
Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hung - Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Health, attended the scientific conference.
In his opening remarks at the workshop, Dr. Bui Van Chinh, CEO of Mammocare Vietnam, stated: According to the Global Cancer Organization (Globocan), by 2040, the incidence of cancer in Vietnam is projected to increase by approximately 59.4%, and the mortality rate from this disease is expected to reach 70.3%. Breast cancer, in particular, despite primarily affecting women, has the highest mortality rate and the highest incidence rate in both sexes.
According to Doctor Chinh, one of the reasons for the high mortality rate is late detection, poor awareness, limited technical resources, inconsistent professional expertise, and a lack of proper societal attention to this issue.
Dr. Bui Van Chinh - CEO of Mammocare Vietnam, delivered the opening remarks.
Dr. Chinh further emphasized: "We aspire not only to create a reputable facility with modern medical equipment and a team of leading experts in the field of breast cancer diagnosis and screening, but also to build an ecosystem for connecting, training, and sharing clinical and paraclinical experience among different levels of treatment."
At the workshop, experts also shared a lot of information related to this field. Specifically, Dr. Dao Thuy Linh, a specialist in diagnostic imaging at MammoCare Hanoi, impressed with her presentation on 3D mammography (Tomosynthesis): "This technology allows for 'tomographic viewing' with thin slices of only 1mm, helping to observe breast lesions more clearly and accurately, and helping to detect early potential small lesions that 2D X-rays may miss, especially in women with dense breast tissue - thereby supporting more accurate diagnosis and significantly reducing unnecessary biopsies."
Dr. Dao Thuy Linh, Specialist Level I - Director of Mammocare Breast Pathology Diagnosis Center in Hanoi, answered questions during the discussion.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hoang Anh Dung, Deputy Head of the Breast Surgery Department at K Central Hospital, presented the multimodal treatment (MDT) model, emphasizing the effectiveness of breast-conserving surgery after preoperative chemotherapy. This method not only reduces invasive interventions but also improves the quality of life for patients.

MSc. Specialist Doctor II. Ngo Le Lam - Director of the Diagnostic Imaging Center - K Hospital Hanoi, answers the discussion questions.
The workshop concluded with an in-depth panel discussion focusing on practical topics including:
• Application of artificial intelligence (AI) in diagnostic imaging;
• Genetic testing in the selection of targeted therapy regimens;
• Potential for implementing precision medicine in Vietnam;
• A collaborative inter-hospital model for breast cancer patient management involving representatives from Siemens Healthineer, Mammocare, K Hospital, Hanoi Medical University Hospital, and experienced specialists.
The speakers agreed that individualized treatment is an inevitable trend, requiring multidisciplinary collaboration, technological updates, and continuous sharing of clinical data between different levels of treatment.

The workshop "Innovation in Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment" is not only an opportunity to update professional knowledge, but also demonstrates the spirit of connection, sharing, and innovation of the Vietnamese medical community in the journey to combat breast cancer. With the participation of leading experts and advanced technology, the expectation of earlier diagnosis and more effective treatment for Vietnamese women is becoming increasingly clear.
