On June 15th, the People's Committee of Hoi An City ( Quang Nam province), in coordination with relevant units, organized a workshop titled "The Roadmap for Innovation and Vision for Hoi An's Creative Space".
This event marks the launch phase of key practical initiatives within the framework of the project "Promoting Innovation for Youth and Communities for Sustainable Urban Development" (hereinafter referred to as the project).
The project is implemented by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), with funding from the Foundation Botnar (Switzerland), and is carried out by the Hoi An City Youth Union, the Hoi An City Cultural, Sports and Broadcasting Center, and supported by business partners, associations, and youth union members in Hoi An.
The event featured presentations and discussions from representatives of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), representatives of Hoi An city, the Foundation Botnar fund, the coordinating unit Hoianlife, and local youth groups and businesses – all of whom are directly implementing initiatives on-site.
Mr. Tran Quoc Vuong, Deputy Secretary of the Hoi An City Youth Union, shared his vision and the necessity of training young leaders and designing innovative activities in Hoi An.
The workshop also featured the launch of key innovation tools and solutions, including the Hoi An Creative Space Design Competition.
The multi-layered creative map at www.banlinhxuquang.com is the first local online platform connecting creativity from individuals, organizations, products, and community ideas.
Many project launch events will be introduced on this occasion.
Locals can access the map to learn about people, places, activities, and innovative ideas happening in their area across eight data groups, including: Pioneering Individuals, Dynamic Organizations, Place Spaces, Event Activities, Innovative Ideas, Products and Services, Process Models, and Experience Resources.
Each piece of data is innovative, sustainably oriented, and entirely derived from the local community. The map opens opportunities for the community to connect with creative individuals, small businesses, event spaces, community groups, or unique products and services, thereby seeking opportunities for collaboration, learning, or directly participating in creative activities relevant to life in Quang Nam.

The Hoi An Young Leaders Training Program is for 50 outstanding high school students with the goal of building a team of innovative successors, supported by the Talented Leaders program (developed by Zeeko Education and Enterprise Ireland), the Institute of Educational Technology (CGD) pilot program in Vietnamese, and Wemaster training transfer from 2024, along with the collaboration of international, domestic and local experts, Hoi An International School (HAIS), and many businesses, craft villages, and artisans.
Students participating in this program will develop global citizenship skills based on the Talented Leaders program, gain access to indigenous knowledge systems, and hone their lean community project management and communication skills to enhance their capacity to design and operate community initiatives.
In addition, they will directly design and implement local initiatives, contributing to solving problems related to resources, heritage, and community livelihoods, with the expectation of becoming a core force leading the development of Hoi An into a creative, inclusive, and sustainable city.
