Forces are assisting local residents in removing dead fish from Tri An Lake.

On May 31st, representatives from the People's Committee of Tri An Ward, Dong Nai City, reported that over 100 tons of fish raised in cages (carp, tilapia, etc.) on Tri An Lake died en masse, causing significant losses for local households.

Following the incident, the Tri An ward authorities mobilized specialized departments and support forces to help people collect the dead fish and bring them ashore to protect the environment of Tri An Lake; they also collected the fish for sale to fish farmers for use in bio-fertilizer production; and reported the matter to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, requesting that specialists be sent to the scene to verify and clarify the mass fish deaths.

The People's Committee of Tri An ward also coordinated with specialized agencies of the Department of Agriculture and Environment to collect fish and water samples in accordance with regulations.

Based on initial on-site inspections and observations, the cause of the fish deaths has been determined to be likely due to weather factors, specifically the arrival of heavy early-season rains after a prolonged period of hot weather.

Most of the fish raised in cages died after the first rains of the season.

Sudden changes in water environmental factors such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen content, and water layer disturbances caused environmental shock to the fish, affecting their health and leading to fish mortality in some fish cages on the lake.

The People's Committee of Tri An Ward reported and requested the People's Committee of Dong Nai City to provide solutions to support the affected residents.

In the coming period, the People's Committee of the ward will continue to coordinate with specialized agencies to monitor the situation, guide people in implementing preventive and response measures, strengthen the management of the aquaculture environment, and promptly handle any unusual situations that arise in order to minimize losses for aquaculture farmers in the area.
