According to the State Bank of Vietnam's (SBV) report on the results of cashless payments and digital banking activities, in the first nine months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, cashless payment transactions increased by 43.32% in volume and 24.23% in value.

Specifically, transactions increased as follows: via the Internet channel by 51.20% in volume and 37.17% in value; via mobile phone by 37.37% in volume and 21.79% in value; via QR Code by 61.63% in volume and 150.67% in value; and via interbank electronic payment systems by 4.56% in volume and 46.87% in value.
Transactions conducted through the electronic financial switching and clearing system increased by 19.14% in volume and 5.87% in value.

Meanwhile, ATM transactions continued to decline by 16.77% in volume and 5.74% in value, indicating a decrease in people's demand for cash withdrawals, replaced by cashless payment methods.

By the end of September 2025, the total number of registered and active Mobile-Money accounts will exceed 10.89 million, of which approximately 7.5 million accounts (accounting for about 70% of the total number of registered and active accounts) will be in rural, mountainous, remote, border, and island areas.

The total number of transactions through customers' Mobile-Money accounts was over 290.43 million, with a total value of approximately 8,511 billion VND.

By the end of September 2025, there were 53 payment intermediary service providers licensed by the State Bank of Vietnam operating in the market, including 49 e-wallet service providers.

To date, most basic banking services have been conducted through digital channels, with many banks achieving a rate of approximately 95% of transactions being carried out digitally.

Regarding Project 06 (Decision No. 06/QD-TTg dated January 6, 2022, of the Prime Minister ), the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) stated that as of October 10, 2025, more than 132.4 million individual customer (CIF) records and more than 1.4 million institutional customer records had been verified biometrically via chip-embedded citizen identification cards or the VNeID application.

The National Credit Information Center (CIC), in coordination with C06 of the Ministry of Public Security, has completed six rounds of data verification and cleaning, involving approximately 57 million customer records, using offline methods.

57 credit institutions and 39 payment intermediary organizations have implemented the use of chip-embedded citizen identification cards via mobile applications.

63 credit institutions have implemented the use of chip-embedded citizen identification cards via devices at their counters.

32 credit institutions and 15 payment intermediaries are deploying the VNeID application, of which 19 have officially launched it.

28 banks and 4 payment intermediaries have implemented the linking of social security accounts with bank accounts to facilitate social security payments through the VNeID application.

Nine credit institutions are currently researching how to integrate the technology for deploying and utilizing the credit rating service of the C06 Department.
