The Hai Phong Legacy Marathon 2026 - Footprints of the Port City took place on the morning of May 17th on Vu Yen Island, Hai Phong City. The race attracted the participation of 8,000 domestic and international athletes.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau, a passionate sportsman , was also one of the athletes participating in the competition.
Among the professional runners participating in the tournament is athlete Pham Thi Hong Le (the 2026 national marathon champion who won the race in March in Khanh Hoa ). She was formerly a member of the Vietnamese athletics team and won many international medals, including at the SEA Games in the 10,000m and marathon events.
Taking place within the framework of the Red Flamboyant Flower Festival - Hai Phong 2026, the race not only has sporting value but also conveys the message "Run fast - Live green," combining "Art for climate" and "Sport for climate" to raise community awareness about environmental protection and adaptation to climate change.
The tournament also aims to connect the community with the responsibility of protecting the global ecological environment through the international Art for Climate program initiated by Thai An Holdings in Vietnam.

With the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau, the athletes participating in the tournament conveyed a message calling on the sports community to work towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050, as committed by the Vietnamese Government. During the tournament, many athletes cleaned up trash along the race course to preserve the landscape of Hai Phong.
Mr. Nguyen Khoa Truong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Thai An Holdings Group, shared: "Through direct participation in running, marathons in particular and sports in general possess immense power to shape the lives of all of us. Through the spirit of 'Sport for climate' and 'Art for climate' of the event, more than 8,000 athletes have inspired millions of people to join forces in practicing sports and taking more concrete actions to protect the environment."
At the end of the race, Hong Le finished first in the women's marathon (time 2 hours 57 minutes 44 seconds). Meanwhile, in the men's marathon, athlete Huynh Anh Khoi was the champion (2 hours 33 minutes 9 seconds).
